"Calm down!"—we've all said it, usually when feeling anything but calm ourselves.

Mamas, I know the struggle of wanting to respond patiently when your emotions are boiling over.

There was a time I felt like a hypocrite saying those words. I’d tell my child to stay calm, but inside, I was in full meltdown mode.

One day, during a particularly chaotic morning, I tried something different. Instead of snapping, I took a deep breath and said, “I feel really frustrated right now. Let’s both take a moment.”

My little one watched me closely, then mimicked my breathing. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a start.

In that moment, I realised this: emotional regulation isn’t about being perfect; it’s about trying, modelling, and giving yourself grace. 💕

Your kids are watching how you handle big feelings. The more we practice together, the more resilient we all become.

Let’s start small—deep breaths, open conversations, and a safe space for emotions.

For years, I thought my struggles were just part of who I was—I didn’t realise they stemmed from low self-worth.

I grew up believing my needs and emotions didn’t matter. I internalised the message that I didn’t matter. As an adult, it showed up in so many ways: avoiding help, staying silent, and thinking I had to do everything alone.

Even now, those old thoughts creep in. But here’s the truth: I am worthy just as I am. And so are you.

One thing that’s helped me immensely is practising self-compassion. When that critical voice speaks up, I pause and ask: “What would I say to my best friend if they felt this way?” Then I say those words to myself.

💡 Want to try this for yourself? Next time you notice self-critical thoughts, ask:
➡️ What would I say to a loved one in this situation?
➡️ Say those same kind words to yourself.

It’s not always easy, but with practise, the inner critic gets quieter, and self-love grows.

For a long time, I was caught in a situationship—a confusing, undefined space that left me constantly questioning my worth. The emotional toll was heavy. I was stuck in a cycle of hoping for more, yet receiving far less than I deserved. Each moment of attention felt like a temporary fix for a deeper wound, but it never lasted.

Then came the realisation: what I was seeking from this person—validation, love, security—was actually something I needed to find within myself. No matter how much I wanted them to fill those gaps, the truth was, I had to learn to fill them on my own. The love I was craving could only come from one place—me.

The moment I decided to focus on self-love was a turning point. It wasn’t easy to shift my focus away from them, but I knew I deserved more than waiting for someone else to decide my worth. I chose to invest in myself, to work on healing and growing into the person I wanted to be—regardless of whether someone else was in the picture.

Since then, my approach to relationships has completely transformed. I no longer look to others to fill my emotional gaps. I’m now confident in my worth and what I bring to the table. The relationships I seek are built on mutual respect, love, and trust—not on chasing after something I should have been giving myself all along.

Self-love isn’t a destination; it’s a journey that takes daily nurturing. Along the way, I’ve learned so much about showing up for myself, surrounding myself with positive people, setting guilt-free boundaries, and embracing imperfections. 🌸

But here’s the twist: self-doubt doesn’t just vanish. I failed at overcoming it at times, and ignoring it only made it stronger. The real lesson? Self-doubt is something to face, not avoid. It’s part of the growth process, and every stumble has taught me resilience. 🌿

Self-love is messy, beautiful, and full of ups and downs. The key? Keep moving forward. 🌻
