Loops vs bands. Which is better? For us, fabric loops win every time. πŸ†

The reason is simple: they don't roll up your legs mid-exercise. If you've ever used a cheap latex loop and spent half the class tugging it back down, you'll know exactly what we mean. Fabric ones stay put and feel much more comfortable on the skin.

We use them in the studio and genuinely rate them for leg and glute work. You can grab a set of different strengths for around Β£9–10.

Paula has been part of the Northants Pilates team since 2001, making her one of our most experienced teachers. She came to Pilates through sports therapy, having worked as the official therapist for the Saints Rugby team and Northants Cricket squad, which is actually how she and Karen first crossed paths! πŸ‰

Paula now specialises in working with menopausal and postmenopausal women and leads our Bone Health and Group Reformer classes.

Resistance bands: small bag, big workout. πŸ’ͺ

We love long bands (2m) because they're genuinely so versatile. Wrap them, double them up for more resistance, clip them into a loop. They come up in so many of our classes and once you have one, you'll wonder what you did without it.

A couple of things worth knowing before you buy: go latex free if you have a sensitivity, and pick up a pack with different resistance levels so you can progress over time.
