Club Announcement – Delapre United FC

It is with great sadness that we must announce the folding of Delapre United.

This decision hasn’t been made lightly I can assure you, but the challenges we’ve faced this summer have just made it unsustainable to continue on. Every possible avenue has been explored to keep the club going, but sadly we must now bring this chapter to a close.

Delapre United has always been more than a football club. It has been a family to us all. We are incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved as a team over the years, including 2 cup finals, multiple promotions, last minute winners and penalty shootout elation. We’re hugely grateful to everyone who stood by us, from all of our sponsors to people supporting from the sidelines, everyone behind the scenes, management and all the players that wore the shirt with pride. Thank you.

However, from this difficult ending comes a new beginning.

We’re excited to share that our management team of Ben, Josh & James will be moving over to St David’s along with a number of players from the Del squad. St David’s pose an already strong team so we’re buzzing to add to that and build something seriously competitive, with us all having one vision in mind, to lift silverware. It won’t be easy but it’s exactly the challenge we wanted.

So for now, it’s goodbye, but we would really appreciate it if you headed over to the St David’s social media channels and dropped them a follow to continue the support on our journey so you can see our progression this season and beyond.

Sixfields Rangers A 4-0 Delapre United

First game back after a long break and it showed. After a summer of plenty incomings and outgoings, this morning was mainly about getting good minutes in the bank, dusting off cobwebs and getting new lads to gel into our system.

For 70 mins we battled well and kept the scoreline at 0-0 but once Sixfields opened their scoring our fatigue showed and we struggled to keep them out. Whilst the result is disappointing we’re happy with the attitude and desire shown from everyone. Lots to learn and take on board but that’s exactly what pre season is for.

Thanks to Sixfields for hosting, solid team that have clearly improved and will no doubt be a match for anyone in this division. Good luck to them for the upcoming season.

Another game for us to look forward to next week and a chance to bounce back and improve on today’s display 🙌🏼

The summer break is over and we’re back doing what we love! Tomorrow morning we face Sixfields Rangers A in our first pre season game away in Towcester.

It’s been a busy summer with plenty of incomings and outgoings at the the Del but we’re ready to go again and get our boots dirty. The upcoming games give us a chance to asses the squad, get everyone back playing and on the road to match fitness.

Two weeks ago, our good friend Dean Lukeman suffered a serious injury while playing football—an injury that’s left him unable to work for the foreseeable future. As many of you know, Dean is self-employed, which means no work also means no income.

This has been a tough and unexpected time for him, both physically and financially. The road to recovery is going to be long, and we’re hoping to ease some of the burden so he can focus on getting better without the added stress of bills piling up.

Any donation, no matter how small, would go a long way in helping cover his basic living expenses while he heals. If you can’t donate, sharing this page would mean the world.

North Star 7-0 Delapre United

A gut wrenching end to a positive season. Yesterday we had the chance to put ourselves into a final, but safe to say we didn’t turn up in the slightest, no excuses at all.

North Star are a team with huge quality and it goes without saying, if you’re not at the races against them they will show you the levels, and that’s exactly what they did. It’s a really tough one to take that but can’t discredit Star at all. They wanted it more and turned up when it mattered. Good luck to them in the final.

As for the Del, it draws a close to our season. Despite the disappointing ending, we hold our heads high, take the lessons as always and enjoy a well earned break.

Thankyou to everyone for all of your continued support across the season, it genuinely doesn’t go unnoticed ❤️

⚽️ Nene Premier Division - League Cup semi final

Tomorrow morning sees the return of our league cup knockout campaign. After an impressive display against Rushden Sargents last time out we’ll be looking to build on that and deliver again.

However the task at hand won’t be easy, we’re facing North Star who are looking to do the league and cup treble this season, so it’s down to us to cause the upset 👊🏼

In our last encounter we drew 2-2, but with us being 2-0 up in the game it’s one we look back on with sour grapes that we didn’t get over the line. Now we have another chance to do just that.

Delapre United 5-0 Rushden Sargents

This Sunday saw the start of the post season league cup play offs, a last chance for us to go again and push for some silverware to finish the season on a high.

Despite not playing for 2 weeks we got off to a flying start, the lads were knocking it around with confidence and Sargents knew they were in for another long day after a couple hammerings recently. Josh Healey yet again grabbing a first half brace to put us in a great position going into HT.

HT 2-0

Sargents come out for the second half with some new tactics of trying to wind everyone up but it seemed to take their concentration away from the football as the scoreline only got worse from that point 🥴 We really started purring by this point and playing some of the best football we’ve played for a while, great to see. Fabz getting our 3rd after a superb ball from Denham who was running rings round them all morning. Ethan tapped home the 4th and by this point we was having fun with it, not something that you normally expect at this level 👏🏼 The 5th come from Jonny, Fabz and then finally Healey in a ridiculous team move ended up finding Luke R who put the nail in the coffin for Sargents ⚰️

Overall a top drawer performance and one that we wasn’t really expecting after being short on numbers and not playing for a while. But one we can definitely be happy with and take confidence from as we continue in this format.

This Sunday Del return to action after a 2 week break since the regular season finale disappointment away to Sixfields. Despite us being extremely gutted we couldn’t secure a 2nd place finish on the last day, perspective is huge and to finish 4th in a league this competitive is a great achievement nevertheless.

Now we get a chance to fight again and have one last go at winning some silverware. We host Rushden Sargents in the first instalment of the divisional play offs, a game that’s never easy and one we’ll need to be on our A game for 👊🏼
