The right people won't make you feel guilty for having needs.
They won't make you feel too sensitive for wanting reassurance.
They won't make you feel difficult for asking for honesty, consistency, respect, or communication.
If you're constantly shrinking yourself just to keep someone comfortable, it might not be your needs that are the problem.
Sometimes healing isn't learning to ask for less.
It's learning to stop asking the people who keep showing you they don't want to give it.

Selfish isn't a dirty word.
Rituals aren't about pretending a candle will solve your problems.
They're about creating a moment where your nervous system slows down enough to hear yourself again.
Lighting the candle. Making the tea. Pulling a tarot card. Stepping outside barefoot. Taking three deep breaths before you journal.
These small rituals don't create the change.
You do.
But they signal to your brain: I'm choosing myself. I'm paying attention. I'm ready to show up.
Sometimes healing doesn't begin with a huge breakthrough.
Sometimes it begins with striking a match.
Somewhere along the way, we were taught that joy comes after we’ve suffered enough, achieved enough, or fixed enough of ourselves.
But happiness isn’t a reward for being good enough.
You are allowed to be in the messy middle… and still have moments that feel good.
That’s not avoidance. That’s living.
🩷 1. Can we play today?
Not because we've earned it. Not because everything's finished. Just because playing makes us feel alive.
🩷 2. Please stop being so mean to yourself.
You'd never speak to me the way you speak to yourself. I need your kindness too.
🩷 3. You don't have to keep proving we're worthy.
We always deserved love. We just didn't always receive it in the ways we needed.
🩷 4. Can you stay with me when I'm scared instead of pretending I'm okay?
I don't need you to fix every feeling. I just need to know you won't abandon me when life gets hard.
🩷 5. I'm proud of the adult you've become.
You survived things you never should have had to. Now you get to build a life that feels safe, joyful, and truly yours.
Healing your inner child isn't about going backwards, it's about becoming the safe adult they always needed. Every small act of self-compassion helps rebuild that trust.
1. You say "I'm fine" because you don't want to feel like a burden, even though you're overwhelmed.
2. You keep yourself constantly busy because slowing down means your emotions catch up with you.
3. You laugh, smile, and carry on as normal, but the moment you're alone you feel emotionally exhausted.
4. You tell yourself you're just tired, when really you're emotionally drained, disconnected, or burned out.
5. Someone asks if you're okay, and you automatically say "I'm fine" before you've even checked in with yourself.
Emotional suppression, people pleasing, and masking your feelings often become automatic. Healing starts when you become curious enough to ask yourself, "Am I actually fine?" instead of answering on autopilot.
Sometimes the smallest word creates the biggest change.
Every time you say yes when you mean no, you're teaching yourself that everyone else's needs come before your own.
Boundaries aren't about pushing people away. They're about making space for a life that actually feels like yours.
Start small. One honest "no" can become the beginning of a completely different life. ❤️🔥
Healing is hard work, but it can also be a beautiful process of falling back in love with who you are.
1. Turn your healing into a ritual, not a rush.
Light a candle, make the tea, slow your pace. The point isn’t perfection, it’s presence. Let your nervous system associate healing with safety, not urgency.
2. Speak to yourself like someone you are responsible for caring for.
Not toxic positivity, actual compassion. Replace criticism with steadiness. It's not about “fixing” yourself but instead building trust with yourself.
3. Make space for joy alongside processing.
Healing is not meant to be one long emotional excavation. You are allowed to laugh, move your body, create beauty, and feel lightness while you heal.
4. Let your environment support your emotional state.
Clean your space, soften your lighting, curate music that holds you (there is a Spotify playlist for every mood these days) Your surroundings shape your internal world more than you think.
You do not have to wait until you are fully healed to enjoy your life. You can make your healing journey feel beautiful right now, even on the hard days.
But there is a big difference between romanticizing your growth and pretending your pain does not exist. True healing isn't about hiding your struggles under a pretty filter. It is about learning to be kind to yourself through the messy parts.
Healing isn't about becoming a completely different person.
It's about peeling back the layers of people-pleasing, self-doubt, perfectionism, and survival mode until you remember the version of you that existed before the world convinced you to be smaller.
The goal isn't to become someone else. It's to come home to yourself. 🤍
Crying isn't weakness. It's one of the ways your nervous system tries to regulate when your brain has reached its limit.
Those tears can help reduce stress hormones, release built-up emotion, and even trigger your body's natural pain-relieving chemicals. Sometimes your body knows exactly what it needs before your mind does.
So if you've been holding it together for everyone else... maybe it's time to let yourself fall apart for a few minutes instead.
Have the cry. Then give yourself the same compassion you'd give someone you love.
