12kilo 900g of roach on the feeder for 3rd on the Cornwall bank and a default section win. Steve caught 10 kilo on Devon, so we haven’t done any good overall.

Brilliant fishing as always at Tamar.

Well done to winners Mark Bartlett and Adam Palmer with a total of 68 kilo of 2 days.

Tamar Pairs Day 1

Peg 1 on Devon. Got to give it a good go on an end peg, so fished for skimmers back to back. It didn’t pan out exactly how I wanted, but 54 skimmers for 14 kilo is still a great days fishing.

Buddy Steve Cable has caught 11 kilo from Cornwall, which has fished uncharacteristically hard.

Today was Luke’s biggest match of the year - 194 cadets on the Canal And Rivers Trust National Celebration Of Young People.

Starting for skimmers, he has put his rig in perfectly, the float bobbed under and held for a half a second, then he gave a firm strike into… a gudgeon!

Second chuck, he has again lowered in the rig brilliantly, and the float has dibbed, but this time he gave a silly little strike that barely moved the float! The elastic rattled violently and his hook length and bottom 2 droppers are covered in slime! 🫣😭 Silly boy!

Luckily, he got it together after that, catching 47 fish - a mix of roach, perch and gudgeon along with a small skimmer and a chunky perch.

1 kilo 200g put him joint 21st which of course he is over the moon with. I’ve not got the heart to tell him that lost skimmer would have put him in the top 10!

Again, a fantastically well organised event with loads of medals and trophies, along with a prize for every competitor, helped with sponsorship from Guru.

If you know a young angler, this is the event to take part in - it’s huge and getting bigger every year!

It’s silly season with new poles at the minute with loads of top end ones arriving. As expected, the silly comments have kept everyone amused. These are my favourites and the replies I’ve seen or wish I’d said (if I wasn’t so polite!).

Please nobody get upset - it’s just for fun!

🤡Too much money for a pole! Learn to cast and fish a rod like a real angler.
