π Northampton Scuba School cleans up the River Nene! π
Weβre incredibly proud of our team and everyone who came together to help with the river clean up of the River Nene waterways. π€Ώπ
Our Northampton Scuba School divers recently joined forces for an amazing six-hour clean-up of the River Nene.
The day involved scuba diving, canoeing, surface support to support both the divers and canoes along with litter picking, with everyone working together towards one important goal: removing as much rubbish as possible from the river and the surrounding area. πͺπ
After setting up our gazebo, Northampton Scuba School flags and PADI flag, we held a full safety briefing before splitting everyone into four teams. Throughout the day, team members rotated between diving, canoeing, surface support and litter picking.
But it didnβt take long for our divers to start finding rubbish beneath the surface. Among just some of the items recovered were:
π Two old shopping trolleys
π₯ An old milk churn
π Numerous tyres
π² An old bicycle
π οΈ A drill and charger still in its box
ποΈ Plenty of other rubbish from the river and riverbank
Although it was disappointing to see how much rubbish had accumulated, the day was a fantastic example of what can be achieved when people and local organisations all work together. π

After seeing how much rubbish was removed during the clean-up, we know there is still plenty of work to do. Thatβs why at Northampton Scuba School we are committed to returning to the River Nene regularly to carry out further clean-up dives and help care for our local environment together. π±π
