Whilton Mill Go Karting and Outdoor activities

🗣️🗣️🗣️ THROWBACK THURSDAY 🗣️🗣️🗣️

We’re gonna dial it back to May 2010, where Formula Kart Stars came to Whilton Mill for the second round the series 🏎️ 💨

Formula Kart Stars was designed as a clear, professional pathway for young talent in Motorsport. It received high profile support from figures such as Bernie Ecclestone & Lewis Hamilton. Lewis said “I wouldn’t be in Formula 1 if I hadn’t come through this series”

At its peak, the series was instrumental in bridging the gap between grassroots karting and single-seater karting. An example was its partnership with MSA formula (the British F4 equivalent), where Formula Kart Stars champions were awarded a fully funded season in the higher category, creating a tangible, meritocratic ladder for drivers 🪜

In the video in the comments, we see a young George Russell in his Mini Max racing with Strawberry Racing featuring interview type questions before showing two race wins & interviews at Whilton Mill with the future No. 63 F1 driver 👀

Not only this, but I also spotted other drivers here too 👀

Lando Norris can be seen racing in cadets and having interviews 🎤

Jessica Hawkins was the only female racing in Junior Max at the time, and said that it didn’t phase her 💪🏼

There is also Santino Ferrucci, who is now racing in Indy Car 🚗

It just serves as a reminder that the young children and teenagers we see amongst us at race weekends could one day populate the elite motorsport series’ 🍀

Saw this trend used on a Porsche and it looked so cool, so I fired up Photoshop and gave them a go myself with karts 🧑‍🎨

Round 4 is open to everybody now, so that includes members & non-members to the club. It’s only 3 weeks away and it’s going to fly past I bet 🏎️ 💨

🏎️ Fastest Laps - May - Rentals 🏎️

Hello everyone! June is here, which means summer is here, but also our fastest laps are too 👀

Some great times compared against the April timings - I see a fair few individuals have set multiple fast laps on various layouts and circuits 🙌🏼

Just a note…if you guys are on our international layout and you skip the last chicane or use the national layout to set a fastest lap time, we do pick up on these irregularities 🕵🏻‍♀️

✨ Whilton Mill Karting Academy ✨

Today I headed to the Mill Circuit for a bit to see the Karting Academy Championship that’s currently underway 🏎️ 💨

It was great to see all the supportive parents & grandparents on the sides encouraging their children and supporting them with claps and cheers 👏🏼

There was some great track action, despite it being much smaller than the National/International track. Watching the children apply the theoretical foundations to being the complete driver to real-life situations, is amazing in itself. It also shows how effective the Karting Academy really is 🙂‍↕️

A big thanks too to all the marshals and officials that have helped keep the championship running smoothly without issue 🫶🏼

🗣️🗣️ Throwback Thursday 🗣️🗣️

Daniel Ricciardo (Affectionately known as Danny Ricc 🫶🏼) visited Whilton Mill on the 8th July 2019, as part of the Daniel Ricciardo Series championship 🏎️ 💨

He took many pictures with adoring fans, including photos in our new restaurant/clubhouse at the time 📸

Fun Fact: The event was broadcast on BBC Midlands Today in a 10 minute segment when Daniel visited on the Saturday of the race weekend 📺

Another fun fact: In the second picture we have as a little sprog excited to meet Daniel - now he works with us coaching the younger generation 🏁

Going through these Throwback Thursdays, it’s always amazing how many notable faces have visited our track over the years, and in recent times 👀
