Northampton Road Runners is delighted that Charlotte Yarker has been awarded the “Rose of Northamptonshire” award for her voluntary work in helping make our running club a vibrant, safe, and inclusive place to enjoy running.

The Northamptonshire Rose of the Shires Awards celebrate “unsung heroes” who tirelessly support their local communities. This prestigious award is organised by the Northamptonshire Community Foundation and was presented to Charlotte by Oliver Wicksteed DL (representing the Lord-Lieutenant of Northamptonshire) and High Sheriff of Northampton Roger Butler at Wicksteed Park in Kettering.

Charlotte recently became the club’s first female Chair. She has helped make NRR a fantastic and welcoming community of runners, and her goal is to continue driving the club forward, with a specific focus on helping female runners enjoy the sport.

“We welcome everyone, especially female runners, to the club. We work to create a safe and welcoming environment where everyone can enjoy our inclusive community.” says Charlotte.

As well as being the club’s Chair, Charlotte recently won the female pairs endurance race at the Endure24 24-hour race in Reading. Paired with NRRs Lynne Nichols, both ran alternate 5-mile laps on muddy forest trails, covering over 70 miles each. NRR is made of runners of all abilities - but if you really want to test your limits - our champions can show you how!

Medal Monday- where to start? It’s been a bit of a weekend! The annual trip to Endure 24 didn’t disappoint, with plenty of other June events keeping us busy too. Post your proud medal pics in the comments!
