Voting is open for the famous Trafalgar Square 'Fourth Plinth' commission, & we would love Ruth Ewan’s ‘Believe in Discontent’ to win the coveted space – for Londoners and tourists alike to enjoy & admire.
Ruth’s proposed black cat sculpture is a wonderful play on the representation of women throughout history – from the accused witch’s familiar, to put-downs of women as being "catty". But placed with the words of Suffragist Charlotte Despard, it is a playful symbol of female power and resistance! Despard believed in “discontent” as she put it; “a disinclination to sit idly, knowing things are wrong” – and that so beautifully represents the WI movement.
You can place your vote online until 12 March: https://www.london.gov.uk/programmes-strategies/arts-and-culture/current-culture-projects/fourth-plinth-trafalgar-square/fourth-plinth-commissions/your-fourth-plinth-vote

For a second year running Richmond Village Northampton hosted our Annual Dinner. 19 members spent a fun evening wining and dining. Good food and good company. A great way to spend a January evening. Thank you to all the staff for making us welcome and making the evening go so smoothly.
