Match Report

Mears Ashby 1’s vs Rushton 1’s

After winning the toss Ashby decided to bat against one of their bogey sides. However a solid batting performance from the visitors saw them post 263 all out. Jabran “ Brightening up” Mehmood top scoring with 57. The next top score was extras with 56, in fact there was more extras on show than a Bollywood movie.
In reply Rushton but up less resistance than pushing jelly threw a letterbox. They were bowled out for less than they conceded in extras…..55. The wickets coming from the Muhammad “The Heat” Saram with a brutal fiver, Alex “ The Assasin” Skerret (3), Kamran “Conan”Muhammad (1) & Aman “Elvis” Iqbal (1).

The result was Ashbys biggest of the season and sees them in good form as they enter their final match week, where they play the champions of Division 6 North Crawley. Ashby know that only a win will do if they are to secure back to back promotions. So we welcome all supporters and members if you can, to make your way down to the ground to show your support, get your Pom Pom outs and bring out the I love Rajbeer signs. We really need a 12th man as Billy Druce & Alex Skerrett have promised to slt drop their way off the field should Ashby secure promotion.

Match Report

Mears Ashby 2’s vs Pytchley 1’s.

After winning the toss Ashby decided to have a bat first.
The hosts got off to a great start courtesy of a solid opening partnership between Raj “Mahal” Shah (31) and Imran “ The fourth best” Bhatti (35). However a famous Ashby collapsed left them 128-7. Enter Bilal “The Wall” Ayoob, with a match turning 57. His knock ensured Ashby had a competitive total. The hosts eventually being bowled out for 192.

In reply Ashby bowled out the visitors for 60. The pick of the bowlers was Emaan “ Beats the” Bhatti. With a brilliant display of swing bowling. Some might say he has more swing than the local do***ng park. Emaan finished with 6-23 off 10 overs. Needing a final wicket off his final ball to become the leagues leading wicket taker courtesy of a fine catch by Timothy Shea. It lead to wild celebrations at Ashby with brother Usman busting out the robot in bizarre scenes, yes I know you are now imagining it. Emaan also bathed himself in Mears Ashby folklore, by taking the most ever wickets in one season for a second team bowler (37) , beating the 5 year standing record held by Stuart “50 shades of plant based beef” Gray.
Emaan was well supported by the Ashby bowling attack with every other bowler taking one wicket a piece those coming from Usman “The Number one Bhatti”, Hadi “ known Ashby was this great he would of joined earlier” Qureshi, Jishnu “The Beast” Jayan & Imran “ Out of luck so triggered Druve Patel” Bhatti.

It meant the hosts won their last game of the season by 132 runs and go into Division 11 with some great momentum.

Well Done to all involved in the twos and we hope to see some of you there this Saturday to support the ones!!

If anyone knows any midwives please feel free to bring them along to give the first team an extra push……

19/09/2024

Massive congrats to Emaan Bhatti yet again for finishing this seasons MVP for the twos. With one more game to play he may finish the top of the tree.

Well done Emaan on this breakthrough season. Keep it swinging…….

19/09/2024

Massive congratulations to Muhammad Saram & Emaan Bhatti on making this weeks honours board.

2 of Ashbys leading pacers getting the recognition their season has fully deserved !!

Match Report

Mears Ashby 1’s vs Horton House 2’s.

Gameweek 20

After winning the toss skipper Alex Skerett put the opposition into bat. The hosts bowled the visitiors out for 219 with the wickets coming from Aman Iqbal (1), Ben Carrick, Kamran Muhammad & Muhammad Saram, 2 and the “Dhillion” dollar man Raj “hold my” beer taking 3.
In reply the Horton bowlers we’re given less respect than a pensioner freezing this winter, with Greg Reis making more cuts than Keir Starmer, pulling more than a young Mike G in Colombo and slashing harder than my ex at the site of me coming home with her satiable mother. It was one of the great Ashby knocks. Greggy ended up on 143 not out and was well supported by Billy Druce. The hosts romping home by 9 wickets.

Next up for the firsts is a bogey trip away to Rushton. Knowing full well that 2 wins out of the last two games would see them promoted.

Match Report

Mears Ashby 2’s vs Dunchurch & Bilton 2’s.

Gameweek 17.

After losing the toss Ashby we’re put into a bat in a crucial contest. Ashby scored a very challenging 249, with Druve Patel (83) doing his best Geoffrey Boycott impression & was well supported at the top of the order by some magnificent stroke play from Yash Mendon (45) and the veteran Stuart “50 shades of Beef” Gray (35). The visitors ran extremely well between the wicket even though at one point both Yash & 50 Shades were panting harder than a Beagle in a hot car. With Ashby looking at scoring just over 200 the innings gained impotence, not by a blue pill ,but by the impressive Jishnu Jayan. The destructive all rounder hit a devasting 37 off only 18 balls propelling the 2’s to 249.

In reply the Ashby bowlers bowled very tight amongst some good Dunchurch batting. The wickets coming from Emaan Bhatti (2), Yash Mendon (1) & fish hooks himself Jishnu Jayan (4). The hosts eventually posted 197 and batted out there allotted overs. It meant the visitors won by 52 runs.

With Pytchley losing to Thrapston........

IT MEANT THAT THE 2’S ARE PROMOTED!!!!!!

Congratulations to Imran, the players and all members on a very successful campaign!!

Next up for the 2’s is an end of the season clash against Pytchley 1’s at home.
