Is this a first? An electric powered Sub 70 flexwing trike.
Jez Walsh, a Flylight employee, purchased a second hand electric motorbike and repurposed the motor, controller and battery by fitting them to a super light PeaBee frame.
Fitted to an Aeros Adam wing the empty weight of the aircraft was literally a few grams over 70kg. A simple weight review got it down nicely below the red line.
Jez made the maiden flight on the morning of April the 1st. His announcement on social media seemed to fall on deaf ears as I am sure most thought it was an April fool. I can assure you it was not and after flying Jez's EeBee both Paul Dewhurst and Ben Ashman are very impressed. Well done Jez, you've made us proud. Maybe there is a way to make electric trikes affordable.
With the current battery it seems possible for 'engine on' flight durations of 40+ mins, certainly enough to get you up to the thermals, or an after work bimble.

A Flylight Nynja was stolen from our hangar this evening.
Our CCTV managed to capture the culprit. Please do not approach them as they may resort to mischief and spells.
