P2 !!!!!! Great final only 0.1sec off the win but great to be back racing after a few weeks and I continue to learn and grow.

🏁 TEESSIDE ROUND 3 – RACE REPORT 🏁

A little bit of a mixed weekend at Teesside for Round 3. Plenty of pace throughout the weekend, but unfortunately we were plagued with mechanical issues from qualifying right through to the final 😩🔧

Saturday practice started reasonably well, but qualifying didn’t go to plan after my lead came loose and dragged along the ground 😖 Despite that, I still managed to secure P11 💪

🔥 Heat 1 🔥
The troubles continued into Sunday’s race day, with the kart lacking drive out of the hairpins 🏎️💨 Even so, I managed to fight my way up to P8 👊 Probably one of my strongest drives of the day — with a 10 kart train all within 2 seconds behind me 😳 yet nobody managed to find a way past 🚫

⚡ Heat 2 ⚡
We switched to engine number 2, but unfortunately the issues remained 😕 The kart still felt sluggish and lap times were down ⏱️ resulting in a P9 finish.

💥 Heat 3 💥
More of the same unfortunately. Onto engine number 3 and again lacking drive down the back straight into South Bank 😤 bringing home another P9 finish.

🏁 FINAL 🏁
During the break we went back to our main race engine and completely went through the kart 🔧 checking the clutch, brakes, bearings, axle and fuel system to give ourselves the best possible shot 👌

Finally… the kart came alive 😍🔥

I soon set my fastest lap of the entire weekend 🚀 AND the fastest lap of the race ⏱️💨 climbing through to finish P6 👊🏁

After trying 3 different engines throughout the day, it turned out the engine wasn’t actually causing the issues after all 🤯 which makes the pace in the final even more encouraging heading into the next round 💪🔥

Overall, a difficult weekend with frustrating mechanical issues 😩 but there are still plenty of positives to take away 📈 We continue to learn every round and we’ll come back stronger next time 💪🔥

📍 Wilton Mill Kart Circuit

Following on from Saturday’s heats, it was all to play for heading into race day… 👊🔥

Unfortunately tyre pressures weren’t quite right which left Alfie slightly off the pace and cost a position.

A much stronger performance with some brilliant overtakes and great pace 💪

The race was heavily affected by a controlled yellow flag 🚧 following an earlier incident, meaning half the race was neutralised. Unfortunately, after being pushed from behind into another driver, Alfie picked up a drop-down nose cone penalty resulting in a 5-second penalty.

Under normal racing conditions the penalty wouldn’t have hurt as much, but with the field bunched together under yellows, it proved costly meaning we didn’t outright qualify for the final.

An incredibly eventful race with all 12 drivers battling for a place in the final, with positions changing several times a lap 😮‍💨

Alfie showed fantastic race craft, composure and maturity throughout, keeping himself out of trouble and securing P2 🥈 to book his place in the final 👏🔥

Racing against some of the fastest Honda Cadet drivers in the country 🇬🇧 Alfie put in some great overtakes and strong racing throughout the final. Plenty of positives to take away and lots learned for the future 💪
