Due to having an operation on my spine in November, Carp Fishing Trips will not have a stand at the Brentwood Carp Show this year. I will be there on the Sunday to meet up with some of our friends.

After a great week at Livardiere in August with a total catch of 38 fish caught, with the best being a 49 lb common, I did a return trip in October wich produce a 13 fish total for the week with a PB for me of a cracking 52 lb 6 oz mirror. Here are just a few of the photos of some of the fish caught over the two sessions. A great venue with superb facilities and ultra friendly staff who do not bother unless asked.

Would all anglers no matter where they are fishing, please be aware of the damage extreme heat can do to the carp. Please prepare all the photography equipment before you take the carp out of the water.(do you really need a photograph in this heat). DO NOT put carp on a hot unhooking mat (make sure the matt is always kept in the shade and lots of fresh water, directly from the lake is poured over it before you lay the carp on the mat) Better still unhook it whilst it still in the landing net and returned it quickly. If it is possible to stand in the margins why not unhook it in the landing net and photograph the carp whilst standing in the lake so that the fish is not exposed to the extreme heat for long. Also be aware of the extreme heat has on us, try to keep in the shade, drink lots of water, wear a hat and quality sun glasses.

Livardiere Trip May 2019
Anybody who knows me well will know I have been suffering badly from a ruptured disk and a growth in my spine. Due to this I’ve had to cut back on on doing shows, work and fishing trips. I did manage a trip on 25th May to Livardiere Lake with Alison, Marcus and Bianca and group of 6 friends who promised to help me set up and pack down as well as any other help I needed. Emmanuel the lake owner met us on the Saturday morning and I must say he made us feel very welcome and took us to our booked swims. We all decided to rent a row boat which costs €50.00 for the week as they make it a lot easier to find the clear/gravel spots and to bait up.
Marcus and I choose swim 9 mainly because it was close to all the facilities so I wouldn’t have far to walk to the showers/toilets, it is also possible to have electricity in swim 9 for €25.00 in the summer and €45.00 during the winter per week.
Alison, Marcus and Bianca helped setting up our bivvy on the right hand side of the swim and I baited up my swim with Monster Baits Plumb Ice, my mix of Partiblend also with up Plumb Ice boilies that I had chopped up in the Ridgemonkey boilie crusher.
Due to the pain in my back and legs I didn’t fish the Saturday and decided it would be advisable not to fish at night time as well. This was not ideal for me because night fishing has always been my favourite time to fish, but at least I was fishing. Marcus had a few fish during the Saturday night which made me all the more determined to be up at first light, get my rod out that I had already rigged up ready with P-Line Halo 15lb/bs mainline as I was fishing to far margin snags. I topped the swim up with more boilies and partiblend sat next to my rods with a cup of coffee which I didn’t have time to finish before the right hand rod was away. As I was playing the fish I heard Marcus alarm scream off so we were both into fish at the same time. This turned out to be how it was for the rest of the week, catching steadily until about 5pm when it turned off for a few hours before Marcus started catching again during the night. Marcus ended up being top rod by catching the most fish and also catching 2 fifty’s the biggest being 51lbs 8ozs. I was runner up in the fish numbers and also landing a 51lb 3ozs mirror. All the group managed to catch during the week including Lewis, Emma and Jaime’s 7 year old son who managed to catch his first ever carp on his own rod.
Paul and Dave came to swim 9 and helped us pack up all my gear and load it into the car and trailer for which I was mega grateful for as it would have been impossible for me to do it without help
