Who’s up for a Paddle Boarding adventure? Join our Cambridge Expedition on Saturday 2nd May
Paddling from Grantchester to Water Street is one of the most enjoyable and scenic ways to experience Cambridge from the river. The journey begins amid the peaceful greenery of Grantchester Meadows, where cows graze on the banks and the river feels wide and unhurried. As you head downstream toward the city, the surroundings gradually shift from open countryside to classic Cambridge scenery.
A perfect midpoint break is lunch at The Anchor pub, set right on the river near Silver Street. Pulling up nearby, you can step ashore to enjoy hearty pub food, local drinks, and a lively riverside atmosphere—an ideal pause before continuing your paddle.
Back on the water, the route takes you under Silver Street Bridge and along The Backs, with beautiful views of college buildings, historic bridges, and weeping willows. Further on, the river becomes more animated as you pass Jesus Green and Midsummer Common, often filled with swimmers, picnickers, and other paddlers enjoying the day.
The paddle finishes near Water Street, close to the Cambridge Museum of Technology, where the river’s character begins to change from collegiate charm to industrial heritage. Overall, this is a relaxed and rewarding journey that blends nature, history, and a welcoming pub stop—perfect for a leisurely half-day paddle through Cambridge.

Curious about paddleboarding? Come and give it a go with us on the beautiful River Wensum, winding right through the heart of historic Norwich.
Our sessions are fun, relaxed, and led by fully qualified Paddle UK instructors, with a max group size of six for every instructor — so you’ll get plenty of personal guidance.
Each session lasts around 2.5 hours and starts with a friendly welcome and quick safety briefing on land. Then we head out onto the water for a gentle paddle, giving you loads of time to get used to your board.
You’ll learn how to stop, turn, and stand with confidence, all while enjoying a peaceful journey through stunning surroundings. No experience needed, no pressure, and you don’t even need to be able to swim.
All equipment is provided — just bring your sense of adventure.

What a lovely evening for our first Sunset Fish & Chip Supper of the year
The views were beautiful, the company was great, and the fish and chips hit the spot. Thank you
There’s something really special about sharing a simple meal by the water as the sun goes down.
We also got to celebrate the wonderful (Frans) birthday — the perfect way to end the day. Thanks to everyone who came along and made it such a chilled, memorable evening.
Here’s to more nights like this ✨
