We work to care for and enhance the environment of the park and to help make its many pleasures accessible to all. "Helping Eaton Park Thrive"

Today, pupils from Bluebell Primary School spent time in Eaton Park working with local artist Melanie Telford, exploring the ideas and techniques of environmental artist Andy Goldsworthy.

Working together, the children created a large collaborative mandala using natural materials gathered from around the park, including leaves, feathers, pine cones, flowers and stones. They also produced individual artworks by wrapping sticks with brightly coloured wool, transforming simple natural objects into vibrant pieces of art.

The session encouraged creativity, observation and teamwork while helping the children engage with the natural environment in a new and imaginative way. It was wonderful to see the care, concentration and pride that went into every creation.

(Thank you to Eaton Park Community Centre for funding the session)

Eaton Park Padel 15/06/2026

Eaton Park Padel is drawing to the end of its fundraising campaign to raise funds for a fantastic summer of padel. Funds will be used to pay for free open days, outreach in local schools, social sessions and equipment for new players.

Our new padel courts are some of the first in a UK public park. In the spirit of the excellent Norwich Parks Tennis, they offer easy-to-use online booking, state-of-the-art automatic floodlighting, social play, coaching, and competitions, all for just £20 per hour (£5 per person).

Sport England has contributed £15k to the £30k fundraiser but there are just 14 days to secure the matched funding required. Without this, Sport England will take back its £15k. Just £3k remains to be raised.

If you'd like to help you can donate as much or as little as you like. There are also rewards which offer 3, 6 or 9 months free court bookings, coaching sessions and a Norwich Parks Padel t-shirt. Rewards come at £100, £250 and £500, with the £500 also including a racket worth £160.

The new courts have been paid for by Norwich Parks Tennis out of its own funds. It is a Community Interest Company and as such has a duty to carry out activities for community benefit.

Friends of Eaton Park and Eaton Park Community Centre would love to see a summer of padel fun in Eaton Park. We have both made donations to the fundraising scheme.

Tree walk CANCELLED ☔️☔️

Looks like it’ll be wet this evening so we’re cancelling the tree walk with Richard Hobbs. This is disappointing but hopefully we can reschedule. If we can, we’ll let you know.

Compost Bins in the Cafe Garden - new information boards.

Our compost bins now have new information boards. They tell you how we make and use compost in the park, as well as how to make your own wooden compost bin.

Many thanks to Norfolk County Council Master Composters and Garden Organic who have provided the new signs. Do check out the Garden Organic website; it’s packed with interesting, useful and inspiring information. https://www.gardenorganic.org.uk/

Eaton Park Volunteer Gardeners
Thursday 4th June

Our volunteer gardening group met this morning and worked hard, despite the rain showers...

The bandstand, lily-pond and cafe garden beds were all weeded and tidied and the white roses (in the rose garden) were dead headed. Last night's rain has really perked up the plants and the beds are looking great. Next time you're in the park look out for Tradescantia, Verbascums, hardy Geraniums, Day Lilies and Lavenders which are all in bloom now.

The roses are so beautiful at the moment, and we're delighted that the bed of pink ones (Rosa Bonica) - including new ones bought and planted by the Friends group last November - is looking much better this year.

Well done, team.

Our next session will be on Thursday 2nd July (10-12). If you would like to get involved, just contact us on [email protected]
