In the end it was a comfortable win today vs Kirkley and Belton Cricket Club in a reduced overs game, due to the weather.

We started well with Chris Rymarz dismissing their opening batter with the second ball of the innings. Our tight bowling attack kept the top order in check and chipped away at the wickets before Phil Banham and Sathee Ramalingam ran through the tail to dismiss the visitors for 69.

In response, Jean Patrick got us off to a great start before throwing his wicket away and we hobbled towards their target until skipper Kieran Latta came in to steady the ship and Subbu Chokkalingam finished the game in style with a pull for four.

A good game all round against a great bunch of lads from Kirkley and Belton CC and we even missed the rain.

The 2022 began yesterday with a fabulous away win at Cringleford CC.

After winning the toss we chose to bat and after a slow start we eventually closed rhe innings on 196-9. Two excellent knocks from Jean Patrick (45) and Saad Naveed (47no), the latter unconventionally sporting a pair of sunglasses throughout his time at the crease.

In response Cringleford started steadily with some mixed performances from our opening bowlers, Chris Rymarz bowling tight lines to keep the score down. Dan Banks was unplayable for a few overs and it seemed like we would coast to victory however Cringleford dug in and started hitting a lot of boundaries and building a good score. With 40 runs to get, 6 wickets in hand and 15 overs to get the runs it looked like we had let the game slip until Sathee Ramalingam made the important breakthrough to dismiss their opener. Some inspired bowling changes by skipper Kieran Latta led to us blowing their tail away and we ended up with a superb 17 run victory.

A great start to the season!

Another nail biter at the weekend vs Kirkley & Belton as we scraped over the line with 2 balls to spare.

We stay top and go again against Bungay on Saturday.

A brilliant team performance at the weekend in a 1st vs 2nd match up saw us regain top spot in the league after victory away to Great Ellingham. Despite the low scores, it was the best match we've been involved in all season.

We roll on.

Rackheath Romp On!

The picture-perfect Ketteringham Hall estate has been in existence since 1066, yet there was little fight from the home side today as the romping Rackheath marched on!

With a wet wicket and cloud cover to whet any bowler's appetite, el capitano Kieran continued his impressive record of defying the odds of a 50/50 call. The 'Heath were batting first.

Ket Hall were buoyed by an early wicket, Kieran (10), before being pegged back by a 100 run partnership between Jean (62) and Scott (62). Jean was his usual classy self, piercing the despairing infield with his imperious cuts and drives. Scott was far more scratchy for his 62 but is now retiring from all forms of cricket in 2021 with a batting average of 170! Selfless late cameos from Rob Holmes (21), Tommy Fiddler (19) and Dan Banks (7) left us within touching distance of maximum batting points and 200 for a second week in a row. In the end, we fell just short and closed on 197-7 from our 45 overs. Plenty for our bowlers to get stuck into.

After 'a few' looseners, our trusty opening bowlers continue to show that age is no barrier. The Handsome Welshman Simon Williams (10-1-20-1) and Poland's finest, Chris Rymarz (7-2-8-0), settled into impressive rhythm, not giving their opening batsman a sniff. It was soon apparent that even attempting to chase down our runs was not on today's agenda. Instead, we endured an eye watering and mind numbing innings from their opener who blocked ball after ball after b...zzzzzzzzz. A few other Ket Hall batsman provided some stubborn resistance and a flurry of attacking shots from their number 5 woke a few of us up from our slumber.

Despite this, our bowlers continued to toil with their usual energy and accuracy. Impressive spells from Tommy Fiddler (6-2-7-1), Dan Banks (5-1-8-3), Golden Arm Newman (7-2-19-2) and Phil Banham (10-0-45-0) all contributed to another imposing victory that was rarely in any doubt.

A few shoutouts to make:

- An apology to Phil Banham for shelling a catch off his bowling, hence my duties of writing today's match report.

- To Jean for dropping more balls than I thought was possible when passing the ball around the field to return the ball to the bowler. Why do these drops not count?!

- To Chris Rymarz for all of his goalkeeping extravagances in the field.

- And finally, to John Newman for getting that bloody opener out!

Up The 'Heath!

A beautiful setting away at Ketteringham Hall Cricket Club.

A medieval hall, a herd of cows and some ominous looking dark clouds.

Another win to keep up our 100% start to the season. We march on.
