Here we have it! Aye Aye team photo after their final game that led them to hold seed at UXIN! With a small team, we are very happy with the outcome of the weekend and we are incredibly proud of our FMP who iron manned the entire weekend with the support of the amazing MMPs 🫡 Most Improved Player was awarded to who scored some amazing points over the weekend, dominating the end zone Most spirited player goes to our own treasurer .gicgier who’s smile and positive attitude kept us going during some tough games. .obrien4 (MMP) and .jane_x (FMP) were voted in as Most Valuable Players for this weekend working hard and playing the most points over the weekend with some serious Defensive plays (Abi just the one against GB player 🫢) that led to scoring points on the turnover 🙌

After being brutally seeded last, we had a point to prove coming into this weekend. A much different approach compared to regionals, as we took it very relaxed, which made our play on the pitch smooth and efficient. Proud of our team this weekend, ending with a very deserved medal.

Here we go… aye ayes updated training schedule for the second term! We excited to announce that we’ve been allocated additional sessions every other Monday so just in time for our upcoming tournaments 🙌 Sunday 19th will be our first official session back in lieu of the winter break so please come along (open to all) and bring your friends! Not to worry if you’re new or nervous about wanting to give Ultimate Frisbee a go our fantastic coaches will accommodate you with plenty of games 🫡

Today is International Spirit of the Game Day in the Ultimate Frisbee community! As a self refereed sport, fair play and good sportsmanship are heavily emphasised in the form of spirit.

Spirit of the game is described by the WFDF to place ‘the responsibility for fair play on every player… Highly competitive play is encouraged, but should never sacrifice the mutual respect between players, adherence to the agreed-upon rules of the game, or the basic joy of play.’

Aye-Aye have banded together to express their spirit this year in our club campaign for International Spirit of the Game Day!

Fresh back from Men’s Indoor Regionals on Saturday 👀

After a long day and some fine frisbee, we comfortably placed 5th in the region granting us a spot at div 2 nationals in February! The fellas all put in a massive shift (P7 - W5 - D1 - L1), only losing 1 game to eventual champions KCL, but were unfortunate (in my completely humble and unbiased opinion) with the schedule/it only being a one day tournament. Ho-hum, all 7 of the guys should be extremely proud of themselves and were an absolute delight to play with!

2/2 indoor teams to nationals…

Here we have it the Aye Aye’s in action! After an early morning sprint to Ilford, aye ayes begun the day. In lieu of a loss against LSE 1s and UCL 1s, aye ayes seemed to recover from their early morning start and brought it in their 3rd game resulting in a win against Cambridge 2s. Next, a swift loss but enjoyable game against Cambridge 1s put us in 8th seed. After plenty of a long break and birthday cake, aye ayes went on to win two high stake games against LSE 1s and Cambridge 2s sending us to MIXED NATIONALS. SPIRT AWARDs: A three way tie for most sprinted player were between Rowan O’Brien, Josh Jones and Abigail Hieatt. Most valuable offensive player was awarded to Joshua Bailey and most valuable defensive player was awarded to Adam Karim. Lastly, the most improved player was Sam D’Asaro 🤩 The entire team showed incredible resilience and determination and all should be proud

Congratulations to those who competed at UXIR 2024! The captains want to say thank you all so much for a fantastic day. The sheer determination and hard work you each individually put in resulted in an incredible come back from 9th to 5th to send us to Mixed Indoor Nats 🤩

AYE-AYE AT LOUGHBOROUGH BEGINNERS:
Two weekend ago (alright do me a favour…I know it’s late!) we sent an experienced team and a beginner team up and left to Loughborough for a weekend full of frisbee. There was some absolutely top-drawer frisbee played by both teams, culminating in the experienced team coming 8th out of 16 in the experienced division; a damn successful outcome in what has historically proven to be a tough tournament. The beginner team held their own throughout the weekend, had some big plays (leading to a raucous side-line), and became accustomed to the joys of staying in scout huts…with 25 randos (nice people from Warwick uni). All in all it was a really enjoyable weekend, and both teams did amazingly well in the first of many indoor tournaments this year for Aye-Aye 👀
