Hi all

Just to let you know that I attended a disability training workshop at Access Adventures on Thursday 22nd May at their lake in Staines near Heathrow airport.

The event was organised by British Waterski and Wakeboard but was run by the Access Adventures team.

Access Adventures and the British Disabled Waterski & Wakeboard Association merged in 2020 and are continually looking expanding the opportunities available to anyone with a disability.
Although they offer a range of different activities for disabled people their main focus is on waterskiing and wakeboarding. They have a super lake and lots of specialist equipment and a lovely club house which also has some accommodation for their customers.

This was an excellent day, and the staff were super friendly with lots of teaching experience and knowledge about the different needs of people with a disability.
In the morning, we had a classroom-based session followed by a lovely lunch supplied by British Water Ski. In the afternoon we had a practical, in the water, session, where we tried out some of their equipment and were given lots of coaching tips from the experts.

The whole event was excellent and lots of fun and I would say that I now have the knowledge, confidence, and contacts to advise a person with a disability on how to have a go at our super sport.
So, if you do know of anyone with a disability who does fancy having a go, please contact me so we can work out some sort of plan.

Take a look at the Access Adventures web site to get an idea of what they can offer.

All the best (see the photo with me in the middle)

One of the things that makes Norwich Water Ski Club so special is seeing how the sport shapes lives.

Take one of our long-time members – he first clipped into skis here as a young lad over 30 years ago. Nervous. Wobbly. Probably didn’t get up on the first go. But something clicked – and he kept coming back.

Fast forward three decades, and he’s still here – not just skiing, but helping others find their feet too. Coaching beginners. Cheering kids on during their first ringo ride. Passing on the buzz that got him hooked all those years ago.

That’s the power of this place. It’s more than a sport – it’s confidence, connection, and community. And it starts with giving it a go.

If you’ve got kids who are keen to try something new – or you’re looking for an outdoor activity the whole family can grow into – this is it.

Water skiing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, ringo rides – it all starts at Norwich Water Ski Club.
And who knows? 30 years from now, they could be the ones helping the next generation up on their skis.

Family-friendly sessions running Sundays, Mondays & Thursdays. Book now:

Today reminds me of those days and Summer nights at the lake… pure magic.

The sun sets, the BBQ’s sizzling, and the water’s like glass.
Kids laughing, tea in hand, and the last few rides before dusk.
This is what Norwich Water Ski Club is all about.

Evening sessions + BBQ socials = the perfect summer evening.
Come make some memories with us.
