Shokz OpenRun or OpenRun Pro 2?

Mark talks through the differences between two of the most popular options for runners - and right now, we’ve got offers on both at Sportlink.

Shokz OpenRun - £89
Usually £129.95

Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 - £134
Usually £169

Lighter weight and greater water resistance with the OpenRun, or step up to the Pro 2 for longer battery life, quick charging and improved sound quality.

Both are also approved for use at England Athletics-licensed road races where headphones are permitted under the bone-conduction/open-ear exception.

Watch Mark’s rundown, then come into Sportlink and take advantage of the offer.

Available while stocks last.

Not bad for an “ultra runner”…

A huge run from Sportlink’s Logan Smith at the Manchester Half Marathon today.

6th overall… 1:03:37… a new PB.

Another seriously impressive performance from Logan and one we’re incredibly proud of at Sportlink.

Congratulations mate - some running that.

We have a winner! 🦊

Well, this was considerably harder to judge than we expected.

Thank you to everyone who entered our Karhu caption competition.

There were some brilliant responses and eventually we managed to narrow them down to five - with a little extra credit for those who worked Karhu, Finland or bears into their caption.

But there could only be one winner…

Congratulations to Vicky Tovell for:

Fox (with Bond villain accent):
“Beary impressive Finnish, Mr Thorpe. You win - this time…!”

👏👏👏

Vicky, you’ve won yourself a pair of Karhu running shoes from Sportlink.

Thanks to everyone who entered. We may have to find another compromising situation for Mark soon…

Marathon season = race shoe launch season.

There are some seriously exciting shoes arriving.

But don’t let a brilliant marketing campaign choose your marathon shoe for you.

The newest, the fastest, the most expensive. The one everyone is talking about.

None of that automatically makes it the right shoe for you.

Come into Sportlink and try the options.

Run in them and compare them.

Enjoy the hype but let your feet make the decision.

Five shoes… one very fast runner.

Sportlink’s Will Percival takes us through the five shoes currently doing very different jobs in his training.

Easy runs. Long runs. Tempo sessions. Faster track work.

And finally, the New Balance SC Elite v6 he’s hoping can help him break 15 minutes for 5K.

It’s a great example of why a shoe rotation doesn’t need to be complicated - just the right shoe for the right job.

Have a watch, then come into Sportlink and get some of Will’s choices on your own feet.

What’s the biggest mistake people make when buying running shoes?

We asked Sportlink manager Mark Thorpe.

His answer? Being influenced by what other people are wearing - whether that’s the colour, an online review or somebody running considerably quicker than you.

A shoe that feels brilliant for them won’t necessarily feel brilliant for you.

The other trap? Assuming the most expensive shoe must be the best.

That’s why Mark sometimes won’t even tell you the prices until you’ve narrowed your choices down.

Listen to the advice, try the options, then let your feet make the decision.

Time for a bit more grip?

The trails are about to get a little softer, wetter and muddier - and your road shoes might not quite cut it.

We’ve had some great new trail options arrive at Sportlink, including the…

adidas Terrex Agravic SL
New Balance FuelCell Rebel Trail
On Cloudvista 3
ASICS Blaze Blast

Different shoes for different runners and different types of trail, but all designed to give you more confidence when you head off-road.

If you’re thinking about taking your running onto the trails this autumn, come in, get a few options on your feet and find the right one for you.

One shoe, one month… what are you choosing?

We put the question to Sportlink store manager Mark Thorpe.

His answer? The On Cloudmonster Hyper LightSpray - the shoe he’s currently doing everything from easy running to picking up the pace in.

More importantly, it’s what he actually runs in.

No script, nor sales pitch… just Mark explaining what he likes about it and why the LightSpray version works particularly well for him.

What are you choosing if you only get one pair for the next month?

FIFTH IN THE SOUTH OF ENGLAND.

What a result for City of Norwich AC at the South of England 6 Stage Relay.

Huge congratulations to Henry Jonas, Logan Smith, Harry Allcock, Danny Adams, Michael Clark and Will Percival on an excellent team performance.

A little extra Sportlink pride for Logan and Will - proving once again that our staff are pretty handy when they swap the shop floor for their running shoes.

Brilliant running, lads. 👏
