Training when we are injured or ill as long as you're careful, will help you when the time comes and you need to deal with a situation. In life nothing waits for us to be the perfect time for us, we must be prepared to respond correctly and decisively.
Our Japanese martial arts and others help prepare us physically but mentally we must go through the difficult times and Keep Going.
Bufu Ikkan.

So I have changed the name of this page as I do more than just the Bujinkan martial arts. I also do Ryoi-Shinto-ryu of which I am also graded and licensed to teach so please watch this space...

I would like to add I am looking at opening a juniors class here in Norwich so all who are interested please contact me either directly or through this page. The class will be 1 hour long or depending on numbers 1 and a half hours and will be 1 evening a week. The charge will be worked out once we have enough numbers and will be by monthly subscription only as in the past it simply didn't work any other way.

Thank you to you all.

Gyokko Ryu, Musha Dori and Kuzushi 01/08/2026

Nice little video of breaking Kuzushi and taking Musha Dori from Kihon Happo No Kata.
(Was a great period where there were a lot of fun times during practice)

So I have been watching this happening for some time now and for me it's saddening to see.
Within the Bujinkan we have some great practitioners, absolutely outstanding.
However.... these are all usually students of Japanese instructors in Japan or extremely closely linked for example have had a long term teacher student relationship with someone who is taught via Japan.
This is sadly becoming more scarce.
What I see now is dreadful, embarrassing, not martial arts practice, just people playing with something that was a good base at some time or another and has been destroyed by lack of timing, distance, balance, etc etc etc. Even worse is the weapons practice. There it is amplified so badly.
I watched a video on here and there's this guy who is stupid Dan and his Bojutsu was shocking. Use the Bo like that and you'll be dead.
One thing I loved about the Bujinkan back in the 80s and 90s was we looked for everything to be effective. Not look cool or flash just pure survival mode.
I do not want anything to do with these modern day Ninja Warriors who are embarrassing the name of the Bujinkan.
Problem is you do not even realise who you are.
To those who actually train to improve themselves and to search for real Budo, good luck to you and you all have my respect.
The rest of you please understand I am going to unfriend many of you because I really am not interested in your bs training.

I do not normally shout out about things but when there is something that is close to my heart and benefits our health, flexibility and mobility, even more importantly than ever the older we get, I have to share.

Rae, who's Yoga classes are extremely good, where she guides you into a new world of movement. Also she is super helpful and has great body movement which is something we should all aim to achieve.
So please give her classes a go.
I intend to go when I get the chance so maybe I'll see you there. 🙏🧡🙏
