At the Bujinkan Kigen Dojo we study the martial arts techniques and concepts given to us by Soke Hatsumi and his Dai Shihan.

We study to improve each and every week, learning how to move freely into space where we can use real Budo to survive. The Bujinkan Kigen Dojo in Norwich constantly looks at improving the skills we develop through authentic training of basic and advanced waza. (Techniques)
We are are always striving to excel to the levels of the Japanese Shihan & Soke in Japan. After all there is no better standar

I do not normally shout out about things but when there is something that is close to my heart and benefits our health, flexibility and mobility, even more importantly than ever the older we get, I have to share.

Rae, who's Yoga classes are extremely good, where she guides you into a new world of movement. Also she is super helpful and has great body movement which is something we should all aim to achieve.
So please give her classes a go.
I intend to go when I get the chance so maybe I'll see you there. 🙏🧡🙏

Richard Lumley

📸 Furuta Sōke – The Heart of the Dōjō

In this shot, Sōke Furuta is in seiza, in the most silent and deepest moment of the practice: the greeting.
This is not a gesture of fitness, but an act of awareness.
Every handshake, every breath, connects to tradition, to the teachings received and to what Budō represents: gratitude to those who came before and responsibility to those who will come after.

In the silence of the Dōjō, the sound of the king captures the essence of the road.

Very good point regarding Nagato Sensei and his way of moving. I really like it but many often do not. I have learned a lot from his lessons and continue to even now. I shall see him next year that's for sure. 🙏🙏🙏

“You must practice correctly, gently and relaxed. Some people say, “that’s too soft” or “too slow”, but if you are trying to learn correct movements nothing can be “too soft”’or “too slow.” Surely this is plain logic - can’t everybody understand it?”

Thanks to our friend Bararu Silviu for sharing this with me. It's some great footage of Takamatsu Sensei going through what looks like the forerunner to the latter section of Kihon Happo No Kata with Hatsumi Sensei. 🙏

Great training last night looking at machete attacks as is becoming a problem in the UK. Obviously this is just looking so choose to run before doing anything like what we are doing.
Bonus is Richard is demonstrating the 1st two of Kihon Happo No Kata at the end.
