MILERS FLYING NEAR COLTISHALL: Some great efforts from the Milers Training Group in this morning's Flying 5k on the former RAF Coltishall airfield. Jake Grand 8th in 17:08; Jason (bound to be training for something) Corner 24th in 19:09 and fantastic run by Heidi Pearson 22:09. Great to see Summer Series regular Paddy Thomas take the victory...the Mile proving to be the perfect training ground!

WORSTEAD MEMORIES: This time next week some of the Milers will be in Worstead. It's the 60th anniversary of the village festival and apparently the Worstead 5 has been going since 1989 (is that right?). LORD MAYOR'S 5k. On the eve of this year’s Lord Mayor's procession a chance to remember some of the Milers who have taken part in the much loved Lord Mayor's 5k (1996 to 2019). It's a race won by Olympians Paul Evans (14.11 in 2000) and Phil Sesemann (14:35 in 2019). Milers who have taken part include: Adie (18.21 in 2006); Bettsy (17:37 in 2007 and 18:43 in 2010); Paul (17:55 in 2007, 16.59 in 2008 and 17:12 in 2009). Any memories welcome in the comments!

SUB 3 HOUR EKIDEN MARATHON: In near perfect conditions a team of Braydeston Milers took part in the fabulous Ipswich Ekiden on Sunday - alongside another 192 teams! The team finished 15th in the Men's Open Category* & 29th overall in a time of 2:59.11. The splits make for interesting reading:

- Rachel Jackson (7.2k): 32.21 (65th on the opening leg)
- Mark Stewart (5k): 23.28 (fastest 5k of the year and 180th fastest 5k out of 574)
- Reuben Houghton (10k): 41.22 (67th fastest 10k out of 384)
- Neil Oxbury (5k): 21.22 (91st fastest 5k out of 574)
- David Houghton (10k): 41.22 (66th fastest 10k out of 384) 🤣
- Harvey Wade (5k): 19.13 (30th fastest 5k out of 574)

*You need a minimum of 2 female runners to be in the Mixed category.

We were so pleased to see 41 runners on a very hot sultry night on The Braydeston Mile, as our Summer Series reached it's climax. Reuben has been getting quicker and quicker all summer! He said he was going for it, and alongside coach Adie on the bike he came very close to the 5 min barrier. 5:01 mins 👏It's been great seeing the results for Reuben and Harvey after working together with Cameron and Paul on Tuesday nights Braydeston training sessions. This years Summer Series has attracted record numbers! We've been very happy to welcome new runners to The Mile alongside old friends. Thanks to everyone who has come along and on behalf of all the Milers we hope you've had a great time. Many thanks to Ruth Steele and Rachel Jackson for noting down names and times, also to Paul Higham for the special edition caps for everyone who completed all 4 runs. We've been grateful to a number of people Inc Bettsy, John W and others for photos, coach Adie and all the support from the roadside
We look forward to seeing you all on The Braydeston Mile again very soon.

See you at Braydeston Church for 18:50 or 19:00 on the start line. There will be presentations at the end for those that have completed all four of the series miles.
Hopefully you will join us for an end of series, well earned drink at The Shoulder of Mutton in Strumpshaw (5 mins walk from the finish line).

This Friday it's going to be super hot on The Braydeston Mile for run No 4 of the Milers Summer Series.
Last week though Braydeston's own Harvey Wade was on fire!🔥
He ran a blisteringly quick 4:59 to break the 5 min barrier for the first time. With coach Adie Grand on the bike alongside him, he tore up the mile course and set a big marker for this Fridays finale!
As this is the last of our 2026 series we will be presenting a quality memento to everyone who has completed all 4 Friday Miles.
We would also like to invite everybody over to the Shoulder of Mutton pub in Strumpshaw afterwards for a series end celebratory drink. 🍻🥂
Meet at Braydeston Church this Friday at 18:50 or 19:00 on the start line. The pub is less than 1/2 mile from the finish of the Mile so you could park there and run or walk over?
Bring a drink, bring a watch, a smile and run your best Mile.
