Boarder Monkeys - Horseboarding Team

As the 1st round of 2016 dawns we wish the best of racing to all the HBUK teams.

With thanks to our generous sponsors Mark Thompson (Farrier) Charnwood Milling (Feed company) Class Act (team clothing) & Mandy for our transport we had a fabulous seasons racing in 2015, pushing ourselves to perform at our best. Racing against Kellys Heroes at Hampshire will remain our favourite competition, the result proved that we were very competitive against a similar pony & working as a team gave us our 1st red rosette. Zeb loved being back in competition & he raced his heart out at each event, clocking up an awesome 23mph through the speed trap!

Sadly Boarder Monkeys won't be competing this season but we wish the teams good luck & great racing :)

New Novice team - go Charlie & Jack

21/10 - Horseboarding Team 21/10 is the next up and coming horseboarding team, combining the youngest rider with a senior boarder.

An interesting weekend racing with the Elite teams gave us an insight into what is required.....

A 5 hour trip saw us arriving at Netley Marsh for the Hampshire Country Fair. Although there were only 2 Novice teams competing the ponies are very similar types so the times were very close all weekend!! At the end of Sundays runs we were just in the lead with Kellys Heroes 10ths of seconds behind.... With an elusive Team win on the cards we raced hard on Monday, the lead changed after each run but we kept the pressure on & finally managed to stay in the top spot. Our 1st win as Boarder Monkeys :)

With the Novice course A set in an arena with a downhill slope, we had to hold Zeb up on the first days racing - you can see from the photos how cross he was!! - but on course B we could let him go - sadly too much time to make up & we finished in 6th place..... just 1 point away from Elite!!!!
