I often have people DM or approach me asking questions like 'What are good supplements?', 'how long should I train for?' or 'what carbs are bad for you?'.

Whilst these are valid questions that can be useful to think about down the line, they're not as important as getting a grip on the basics.

It's like doing a 360 behind the head dunk without learning how to dribble the ball
(for all you non-sports fans, that's a basketball reference).

Start implementing these basic lifestyle changes, and you will begin to see huge differences in your health and fitness.

Client update:

I've only been working with this for a few weeks but you can already see some of the awesome results he's achieved 🙌

- 3kg body fat down
- 0.5kg muscle up
- Reduced Metabollic age by 7 years
- Decreased Visceral fat

And all of this was done without tracking a single calorie. He did not weigh himself for 3 weeks.

We just focused on a few key elements to help him push forward, feel comfortable with the process and get into a routine.

- Protein intake
- Increased activity
- Adequate sleep
- Recovery

They really are such simple things, but they will make or break a diet.

It really works wonders.

Even if we just look at some of fitness related benefits of sleep, you'll want to have an overhaul of your sleep habits.

➡️Growth hormone is released during sleep.

This is responsible for stimulating cell growth, reproduction and regeneration

Growth hormone is also linked with increased metabolism.

➡️Sleep deprivation may decrease glycogen synthesis and slow the storage of glycogen which reduces your energy throughout the day.

➡️Reduces appetite and hunger

➡️Sleep helps the brain process information and lay down memories

One of the biggest mistakes I've seen time and time again, is thinking it's time to drop your calories again after only 2 weeks of dieting.

Why not?

You've lost 2-3kg

You don't want this progress to slow down.

You've got your holiday you planned 6 months ago in 3 weeks

Try and squeeze every kg out you can right.

Let me tell you something,

It's completely unnecessary.

You've set yourself up for failure before you've even started.

But at least you can tell people you lost 5kg in a month before you went on holiday.

I bet you won't tell them you've put it back on + more..

In order to continue your weight loss, you need to be able to maintain the lifestyle.

Without a plan in place

This isn't possible.

You need to know when you change things up or more importantly, keep it the same.

Impatience is the killer of progress.

When things are going well... Keep it going.
