Huge congratulations to all our competitors who proudly represented F.S.K. at yesterday’s English Karate Federation Open Championships.

For 11 of our 14 competitors, this was their first time competing at this level, and every single one rose to the occasion with outstanding performances in both kata and kumite.

We are incredibly proud that every competitor achieved a podium finish, contributing to F.S.K. securing 2nd place overall in the team standings.

🥇 9 Gold
🥈 13 Silver
🥉 4 Bronze
A remarkable total of 26 medal positions.

A huge thank you to all our coaches and officials for your hard work, dedication and commitment, and to all the parents for your continued support throughout the day.

Finally, sincere thanks to the English Karate Federation for once again organising and delivering such a professional, welcoming and high quality national championship. 👏👏👏

AIDAN TRIMBLE 8th Dan Chief Instructor FSK

Aidan Trimble Sensei, Chief Instructor, FSK ‘Federation of Shotokan Karate’ began training in karate at the age of eleven (1972) and won his first British title at the age of 17. That same year he was selected for the England squad and was a member of the team that won the European Championships in Germany in 1978. In 1983 Aidan became the first Non-Japanese to win a World Kumite Title in Tokyo, Japan at the age of 22. It’s no exaggeration to say that Aidan Trimble was one of the most successful Shotokan competitors of the 1970s and 1980s in both Kata and Kumite. Aidan was a dynamic Shotokan fighter with amazing kicking techniques and ashi-barai being amongst his specialties. If you have never seen him in action during his competition years, take a look at some of the old footage on YouTube. In 2005 Aidan opened ‘The Dojo’ in Beeston, Nottingham, a prestigious karate centre providing tuition for all ages and abilities. Aidan was awarded 8th Dan by the English Karate Federation in 2016. Excellent Competition officials course today. Big thank you to Rob Traves for organising the event. Sorry for those who missed our group photo at the end but understandable as some of you had a long journey home.
