You’ve had a fun summer and the gym took a back seat but you’re ready to * lock back in * ??
Let me tell you the 3 thing’s I’d do to make sure my first week back set me up for success!
1. Ignore whatever weight I was lifting before
Likelihood is, everything will feel heavier than before and that’s going to take your ego for a ride. ‘What’s the point’ ‘I’ve lost all my progress’ (you haven’t) in turn crushing your motivation and making it harder to show up for that next session. And if you force the weight? You’ll end up out of action for the week, finding yourself ‘starting again’ next today instead.
2. Show Up Regardless
This is one of the KEY things I talk to my clients about. Out of routine and struggling to get back to it? Show up regardless. If you’ve told yourself you’re going to the gym after work, go to the gym after work. If you said you’re going first thing? Get up.
If you’re sore, if you’re tired, show up. You don’t have to do the full session and some days you might just have a treadmill walk and go home, but the aim is solidifying that routine, regardless!
3. Prioritise Rest
Might seem silly when you’ve spent the summer resting, but it’s important! We should be putting just as much effort into our training as we are our rest and let’s be honest we aren’t all putting it into practise!
