Owen Thatcher: .0 had a solid foundation season at the club, which saw him play more than anyone else, placing ahead of upcoming award winners with 19 appearances.
Josh Hamilton: a fantastic campaign for where his 11 goals put him as our top goalscorer, despite Neilson's and Owen's efforts on the final day to catch up!

Corey Newman: not the first time you'll see on this list - probably why he keeps asking me to post this!
Josh Hamilton: our top scorer clearly stood out to the boys as he also takes Players' Player for his goals and tenacious work throughout the season.
Dion Johnson: one of the final OGs left, took the armband this season and led us through thick and thin until his knee blew up a little bit. Red Sox through and through!
Corey Newman: Corey again - fantastic player that clearly thought was the stand out star to our resurgence in form when he voted him Coach's Player.
Ewan Betts: a great opening season for .b2 who not only played a crucial role in midfield and was an outstanding talent.

Corey Newman: okay, enough glazing Corey - he's class, let's move on...
Alex Neilson vs Curzon (A): 's outstanding free kick, a thumping effort from at least 35 yards, inspired a comeback so unexpected, the camera had gone away - sorry Neilson!

Kaid Stapleton: if there's a position didn't play last season beyond keeper, we haven't heard of it! He did all that whilst getting the bus every week and never asking for a lift - hero.

Man of the Match:
The Red Sox signed off a mixed campaign with another solid Sunday, beating strugglers Erewash comfortably and gaining new accommodation having moved into the Erewash number 8's head rent free by the end of the second game.
It was a game where we didn't really step out of second gear, but our opponents never really got going. A double from Neilson in our first game, both in the first half, saw a comfortable win. In the second, the beers had begun on the sideline and the lads on the pitch stepped it up, with Neilson adding another, alongside a brace from Owen, and two later goals from Kieran and Rhys. Kieran will be glad his maiden Sox strike wasn't on camera, as it trickled through the sub keeper's legs! The game ended with our two strikers being our two goalkeepers and .b2 in goal, which really showed the gulf in the two teams by the end.
Thank you for those that followed us this season and Up the Red Sox!

Last game of the season as we meet Erewash in a double header! A win in either game sees us go above the Stantons, but otherwise a chance for the lads to end on a high and put themselves in the gaffer's thoughts over the summer.

Man of the Match: Ash Cheetham
A frustrating penultimate showing from the Red Sox but certainly a mark to how far we've come in recent weeks, as we narrowly fell to a defeat in the first and unfortunately weren't able to win the game in the second of our JC double header.
JC showed us in both games how they're so high in the table, with all 4 goals absolute belters, including a distance header, a two ranged, audacious strikes, and an outrageous trivella on the edge of our box.
However, perhaps they might agree that, having ran out of steam in both games, we were overall the better side over the two legs. A smart pass saw Ash round the keeper in game 1, whilst Ash's thumped stroke and Neilson's pinpoint cross both found their way past their excellent keeper, which earnt us a point in game 2.
Just one to go now, Up the Red Sox!

Penultimate matchday tomorrow as we face JC United in a double header at Rutland! We'll be hoping to continue our solid form that's seen us take 10/12 points in the back end of a frustrating season.

Man of the Match:
A game that really proved the Red Sox's run in good form was more than a fluke, as we came from behind to dent another title chasing teams hopes! An awful start saw the club trailing deservedly by two goals in the first half, with few chances falling out way as we went into the break.
A great spell saw us test the keeper more and more, before Curzon were able to grab a third on the break in what looked certain to be the goal that gave them all three points. The camera went away, the assistant gaffer called it a day, but a returning Alex Neilson's dream free kick sparked some hope back in the boys. Neilson's followup free kick was parried and scrambled home by Joel, before a very last-gasp set piece from dynamo Corey saw an otherwise quiet Jonah steal a point back for us - no more than we deserved in the end. The last kick of the game saw .s make a great stop, before the rebound was flagged offside and allowed us to share the points.

With confirmation of our away walkover against Black Diamond, we go into this weekend with 3 wins on the trot, once again playing one of the big dogs of the league in high-flying Curzon. Two fair results this season against Curzon as a laboured draw in pre-season and a 4-2 loss on the opening day of the season as we look to continue our run and dampen their title credentials.

Man of the Match:
Following our win against title hopefuls Borrowash, the Red Sox made it 2 wins on the bounce with a stellar, vengeful display against a Stanton Colts side we know we should have got something from back in the winter. We started hungry and with Josh and Corey in red-hot form, they combined beautifully for Owen to open the scoring. Soon after, Jonah's hard work won us and penalty and, despite it being the worst penalty we've seen all season, he did somehow get it to go in for his first of the season. Pretty soon after, more excellent work from the tenacious Corey saw Josh get a chance to stretch his legs, running at the defence before powering home his 11th of the season as we went into the break the clear favourites for the 3 points.
Despite two freak goals that perhaps flattered our opponents, Max's first Red Sox goal (not on camera sorry mate!) and a second from Jonah put the game almost immediately out of reach for the Colts. Before long, a smart corner from Corey saw Ewan power a finish in, before Jonah completed his hattrick and gave Corey a 6th assist of the day.
With Black Diamond forfeiting our midweek match this week, that sees us claim 9/9 points in the last 3 as we look to finish strong.

Man of the Match: but he doesn't have a graphic, so ๐
Right, let's try pick this back up again. After a rough run of losses and walkovers, the Red Sox finally dusted themselves off and took 3 vital points from title chasers Borrowash. Short report for this one, but an early goal from Josh, followed by Ash's brace had us cruising in the first half, before 2 quick goals in the second had our backs against the wall, but we defended well and saw out the game for the W.
Tomorrow we play Stanton Colts as we look to put back-to-back wins together.

Off the back of a strong performance last week, we return to Rutland for another Double Header, as we host ! Lonely Boy took all 6 points last year in a sn**ch and grab home fixture, followed by a more controlled away game as we sunk away at the back end of the season. This year, Lonely Boy find themselves 2nd, whilst our slow start finds us towards the bottom. Can we defy the odds on Sunday?
