FACTS ABOUT VAGANOVA STUDIOS : SO HARD!✨ Not going to lie, when I first arrived and tried a sloped floor it was one of the scariest things ever. I remember when I first did Pointe on this floor I thought I was going to fall. When I started on the side barre it made me SO aware of my weight as one side i was downhill and the other I was uphill 😅 VERY HARD Needless to say it made you so aware of your placement and alignment but it does take some getting used to. In the end I go SO strong in my back and my backs of legs / glutes. You HAVE to hold these areas like crazy otherwise you WILL NOT find balance Was this interesting for you? The Advanced Ladies Ballet Class and Advanced Adult Tap Class are currently preparing to perform in the Elevation Dance show in March 2026.

I have been teaching dance at Sherwood Community Centre since 1976, but now only teach Advanced Ladies Ballet and Advanced Adult Tap, as my other classes transferred to Elevation Dance, in the same premises in September 2020.

Due to preparations for the show, it's not possible for new members to join the classes until April 2026, so if you are interested in the above classes, please contact me by email during February/March 2026.

On 6 July, Sherwood Community Centre is celebrating 75 years since its official opening (8 July 1950).

Sherwood Community Centre is based at the oldest house in Sherwood. Parts date back to the early 1700s, the 1750s and the early 1800s when it became a Georgian mansion.

I will be leading guided tours at 12.45 and 2.15pm, see below.

There is also an exhibition about the history of the site from before a lonely cottage was built near to the rough sandy road which led from Nottingham to Mansfield.

I have been teaching at Sherwood Community Centre since September 1976, although now I only teach Ladies Ballet and Adult Tap. The dancing school is now Elevation Dance, and they will be performing at the event at 12.45pm.

There are lots of other activities and entertainment, and the cafe will be open.

I've been teaching at Sherwood Community Centre since 1976, and although the school has now become Elevation Dance, there are still dancers or their children who have been involved with us for many years. Sherwood Community Centre has been providing activities for the local community for 75 years, and there have always been crossovers between the various groups. If you have memories of the Centre, or have relatives who attended groups many years ago, we would love to hear from you, and them.
