Our junior section's plans (dates updated)

19/02/2026

Our far-est far country members, New Zealanders Chris and Jenny Clarke, won the New Zealand AC Mixed Doubles Championship yesterday, beating Miranda Chapman and Greg Bryant +3, +16 in a toughly contested best of three final . Remarkably, this was their first time entering as a pair. 5/5 and a new achievement together. (Miranda and her husband Paddy are much missed former members of our club.)

Many congratulations to the England team, especially James and Jack who are Nottingham members.

The 'Mac' is the top international Association Croquet team competition, which takes place every 3 or 4 years and will be in England in 2026. There will be teams from the top 4 countries (Australia, England, New Zealand & USA) and all 6 test matches will be in the south east.

England announce the team selection for the World Team Championship

Andy Dalby-Welsh, Croquet England CEO, sends his congratulations to the team:
“Having been fortunate enough to represent my country at several international series, I know how exciting it is to be selected for such a major competition and the pride this brings. At Croquet England we are very grateful to Alliance Witan who will make this event a more special experience for our Team England players. Best wishes to James for a fantastic AC Worlds.

James is a long term member of our club, one of our most accomplished members, having started here as a toddler. Now based at Cheltenham so we see less of him,

Listen to him on radio Gloucestershire from 52'45" into this programme.

James Death [England] tells all on BBC Gloucestershire, explaining what Croquet means at the World Championships. Listen at 52:45 where James talks about 'the big one'. He's got the Club Championship title, the County, the Country and even the European. Is this his year to get the elusive World title?
