Things have been a little quiet on my page recently due to the Covid 19 pandemic, my NHS job has been extremely intense over the last few weeks as the team of social prescribers I manage has gone into welfare mode.

So to tell you a little about my other job my team work for 38 GP practices across mid Notts to make sure patients who are the extremely high risk and vulnerable due to their health conditions such as cancers, transplant patients, respiratory health problems are getting the support they need whilst shielding.

It’s been full on and pretty exhausting at times but the impact we are having on those people mean they will not need to risk catching the virus by having to leave the house to get food and medication.

The support of their local communities and services across Mansfield and Ashfield and Newark and Sherwood has been amazing. It’s wonderful to see communities pull together and care for the most vulnerable as not everyone has a family who can help, some people don’t have lots of friends, some are housebound and can’t get out, so knowing we are checking in on them means they know someone cares about them and knowing someone cares gives them hope ❤️

So as you can imagine I’ve been putting a lot of my own techniques into play here to manage my life at the moment. Meditation and EFT are helping a lot, I’m booked in for my own virtual hypnotherapy session today for some help with sleep, and my new found love of biking 🚴‍♀️ which has suprised me helps me flood my brain with lots of nice chemical to help me feel good. I’m still keeping in touch with my therapy clients too, and still offering online sessions and phone support.

Anyone else struggling, must admit I am today. Feeling teary, missing my family and friends, and as I suffer with something called PMDD which is an emotional rollercoaster in itself, everything felt heightened.
So I sat in the sofa, and thought, so do I allow this to fester and take hold, do I have a sh*tty day in my own head or do I do something to change how I feel.
I went with the latter.. I got I on my bike. My new lockdown hobby. Exercise shuts off the internal chatter, After a few miles I sat on a bench and listened.. so many birds chirping away. Used my senses, felt the warmth of the sun on my skin and it felt good. Started to feel better.
It’s ok not to be ok.. just don’t let it take hold! You can chose to feel differently ❤️

Finding things to be grateful for can seem a lot harder at the moment, so take some time to notice. Let’s face it that’s one thing most of us have more of at the moment is time!

Yesterday I sat in the garden, about 7:30pm it’s was SO unusually quiet apart from a blackbird singing on a rooftop opposite our house. I just sat and listened, and my what a beautiful song he had, with such a range of sounds and pitches. I just sat and listened for ages and appreciated his vocal acrobatics when I normally would have been too busy to notice or not enough time to sit for a while and take all it in.

We are all still adjusting and getting used to being at home.. all the time! I’m still trying to figure it out in my head, but on a positive note we are one week done already!
And you will keep adjusting and finding ways to cope with this unique situation we find ourselves in. EFT is helping me and meditation, if you need any advice or want some tips just message me! ❤️

Well what a crazy few weeks since my last post! I’ve been really busy with my NHS job, but wanted to share how I’m managing my stress and anxiety. We are bombarded with Corona virus information, constantly.. if you need some peace, some time out, try this.

When your stressed and anxious your immune system is weakened. Try listening to this one a day or even more. It will bring about a calmness to your mind and body.

Take yourself somewhere you won’t be disturbed by anything for 30minutes. Read this statement below each time before you listen to this music.

‘Imagine yourself feeling safe on-top of a large mountain, find somewhere to lay down and get comfortable, the weather is just how you like it, notice the temperature of the sun on your skin, perhaps there’s a gentle breeze which is blowing through your hair, and you feel FAR FAR away from the stress in the world right now. As you lay there look up and notice the colours of the sky and the clouds as they drift by. You find an enormous sense of peace comes to you.. notice your thoughts as they too drift, coming and going like clouds in the sky. And breathe, nice easy comfortable breathes as you listen to the sounds. Before you start this score from 0/10 how relaxed you feel, 10 being the most relaxed and 0 being not relaxed at all. At the end of the session score again how relaxed you feel out of 10.’

When you bring about a relaxed state, you improve your immune system..and it works better which we all need right now!

Therapy.. sounds scary right?

Talking about upsetting things that might have happened to you. Well that’s NOT how I work, I’m a forward focusing therapist and coach!!!!

Let’s concentrate on how you WANT to feel, not the past. Let’s build you up to the person you want to be!! Let’s let go on old behaviours and limiting beliefs that are holding you back.

So I coach, coach people who have their own businesses, coach people for that scary presentation, coach people to take that leap and go for that job, coach people who want to cut down on their drinking and drug use.

Now coaching isn’t so scary is it?

How true is this statement?
How often have you looked back on the things that happen in your life that might have been pretty challenging, and your life took a better path as a result of it! Relationships that ended, jobs you didn’t get.. just because we fail or things don’t go our way doesn’t always mean it’s a bad thing!

Over the last few weeks I’ve done something I would have never ever in my wildest dreams thought possible years ago...public speaking on a large scale!

As part of my role at the NHS, I’ve had to deliver 4 presentations to around 150 GPs and Practice Nurses at each event on Social Prescribing. Years ago this just would NOT have been an option for me, the absolute fear and terror at speaking in front of people would have prevented me from ever taking a role like this on.

What’s got me in a position where I can now do this? The techniques I use, that’s why I believe they work, because I KNOW they do, I’m the evidence for it!

So right now I’m going to feel very proud of myself and give myself a huge pat on the back 😀

I’m super excited to start using some EMDR techniques within my hypnotherapy practice.
