Day 2 begins here at Langar Airfield, originally opened as RAF Langar in 1942, played an important role during the Second World War. Built as a major bomber airfield in the Vale of Belvoir, it was first home to RAF Lancaster bomber units, including No. 207 Squadron, which flew operations over occupied Europe and Germany. In late 1943 the airfield was transferred to the United States Army Air Forces’ Ninth Air Force and became known as USAAF Station 490. American troop carrier groups arrived from the United States with C-47 Dakota transport aircraft and Waco gliders, using Langar as a training and staging base for airborne operations leading up to D-Day and later Operation Market Garden. The airfield also became a major maintenance, supply and glider assembly centre for the American airborne forces, making it a significant part of the Allied invasion effort in north-west Europe.

The second British Night Record secured last night at Skydive Langar, a 10-Way Canopy Formation (CF).

CF (Canopy Formation) is a skydiving discipline where jumpers intentionally fly open parachutes into each other to build formations in the sky.
Instead of freefalling, jumpers deploy their main canopies immediately after exit and spend the entire jump docking together.

Congratulations to all the jumpers and the organizers Kayleigh, Marcus & Max for bringing this record home! Thank you so much to the many staff and volunteers who stayed to make this operation happy. Also a thank you to David Wills and Collins Earthworks Ltd for the light towers that were a massive help!
