MARCH PUSH-UP CHALLENGE: 50 A DAY! πͺ
New month, new goals. We are challenging YOU to complete 50 push-ups every single day throughout the month of March.
Whether you smash them out in one go, do 5 sets of 10, or perform them on your kneesβthe goal is consistency.
Why Push-Ups? π₯
In Karate, the push-up isn't just an exercise; itβs a foundation for "Kime" (focus and power). The benefits are huge:
Upper Body Strength: Builds your chest, shoulders, and triceps for stronger strikes and blocks.
Core Stability: A proper push-up is essentially a moving plank, strengthening your midsection and posture.
Bone Density: As a weight-bearing exercise, it helps strengthen the bones in your arms and wrists.
No Equipment Needed:You can do them anywhereβat the dojo, in the office, or at home!
Why is it a "Challenge"?
50 might sound easy on Day 1, but the real test is Determination. By Day 15, when your arms are tired and your schedule is busy, finding the discipline to hit the floor is what builds "black belt excellence." Itβs about proving to yourself that you can stick to a goal for 31 days straight.
How to Join:
1. Comment "IN" below to commit!
2. Post a photo/video or update us on your progress throughout the month.
3. Tag a training partner who needs to sharpen their strength this March.
Letβs build some "Karate Strength" together. Whoβs ready to drop and give us 50?

π₯ Show Your Support: Pink Belt Day for World Cancer Day! π
This Tuesday (4th), Thursday (6th) and Saturday (8th) February, our dojo at Kimberley Shotokan Karate Club will be turning pink in a powerful display of support for World Cancer Day!
We're inviting all students to wear a Pink Belt to class to stand in solidarity with those affected by cancer. It's a small gesture that makes a big statement about our community's strength and compassion.
Here's how you can join us:
Wear a Pink Belt! If you have one, please wear it to class.
Donate Β£1 for Charity. Every pound helps make a difference in the fight against cancer.
Limited Pink Belts Available! Don't have a pink belt? We have a small selection available for purchase at the dojo for just Β£5, with all proceeds going to charity.
Let's make this a memorable day, showing our respect and support for such an important cause. See you in the dojo!

Brilliant session this morning at KSKC as we delved deeper into the "Why" of kata.
We moved from just performing the kata to investigating and understanding the movement, power and body positioning.
Well done everything. It was brilliant to see it click and come together π₯ππββοΈ

In Memory of a Legend: Shiro Asano Hanshi (1939β2026) π₯
Yesterday the dojo at Kimberley Shotokan Karate Club felt a little heavier as we paused to remember a true titan of our art, Shiro Asano Hanshi.
To honor his incredible life and legacy, our club conducted a one-minute silence.
Why we remember him:
Asano Hanshi was a pioneer who brought Shotokan Karate to the UK in the 1960s. As a graduate of the legendary Takushoku University and a student of the great masters, he was a direct bridge to the history and traditions of Karate-Do.
His contribution to the Shotokan Karate-Do International Federation (SKIF) and the S.K.I. (Great Britain) shaped the way thousands of us train today. He didn't just teach techniques; he taught the "Do"βthe way of life emphasizing discipline, humility, and the relentless pursuit of perfection.
Though he has passed, his spirit lives on every time we step into the dojo, every time we sink into a deep stance, and every time we strive to be better than we were yesterday.
Rest in peace πββοΈ

29.10.1939 β 19.01.2026
It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our father, Hanshi Shiro Asano.
He dedicated his life to spreading the art and discipline of Karate; shaping skilled Karate-ka, instilling spirit, values, and confidence, and leading and building the family of SKIF-GB.
To so many of you, he was more than an instructor; he was a role model, a mentor, a guide, a friend, and someone who stood tall. He brought energy, a sense of humour, humility, and a big heart into every room he entered.
He was larger than life, brave, honest, and always the life and soul of the party; someone who lived fully, laughed loudly, and gave generously. His legacy lives on in the countless personal memories each of you will carry: lessons from the dojo that stayed with you long after training ended, trips away, and conversations shared over a beer and a social after βhard trainingβ.
This is very recent and as such there are no arrangements yet. Our family kindly ask that you respect our privacy at this sad time.
Thank you for being part of his Karate family, which he loved with all his heart. His spirit lives on in every student he taught and every life he has touched over the last 86 years.
We will forever love and miss him. In his own words:
βOne life, must enjoy, Oss!β
