🌴🐘 RACE TO THE JUNGLE FAQ 🐘🌴
Questions people are definitely thinking… but don’t always say out loud....😜

---

❓ Is there any wild animals that I need to be worried about that’s going to kill me?

Short answer, no.

Long answer, no.

You’re paddling a managed, supported river and lake route with safety cover, not starring in a survival documentary.

No alligators, no piranhas, no unexpected plot twists, no drama, no predators waiting at the checkpoints.

---

❓ How remote is it?

Remote enough to feel like an adventure.
Not remote enough to become a survival documentary.

Think: “wow this is incredible” rather than “I should have packed more bananas ”.

---

❓ Is the river safe to swim in?

Yes.

You’ll likely see paddlers swimming and cooling off throughout the weekend.

The river and lake is warm, clean

No alligators.
No piranhas.
No “things from the deep”.

The fish are far more interested in minding their own business.

---

❓ What about snakes and spiders?

It’s Thailand, they exist, as they do in most warm countries.

But you’re not bushwhacking through jungle, you’re paddling a supported route with people, boats, and activity everywhere.

The wildlife’s general policy is: ignore the paddlers and carry on with life.
---

❓ Will I get eaten alive by mosquitoes?

You might meet a few.

They’re mostly interested in free snacks, not race entries.

Bring repellent and you’ll be absolutely fine.

---

❓ How fast is the river?

Fast enough to enjoy.

The River Kwai is dam-controlled, so flow varies, but typically around 6–10 km/h of assistance.

Which means:

Sometimes you’re paddling.

Sometimes you’re lying back, taking in jungle views, and casually ticking off kilometres.

---

❓ Are there rapids or shallow water sections?

No.

This isn't a whitewater race.

No rapids.
No rock gardens.
No surprise drops.

Just a flowing river with a helpful current pushing you towards the finish line.

Think "happy paddling" rather than "hold on for dear life." 🌊😄

---

❓ Will I spend all weekend fighting upstream?

No.

This is a downriver adventure.

The river is very much on your side.

---

❓ Do I need to be an elite paddler?

No.

If you can paddle, smile, and enjoy incredible scenery, you’ll be absolutely fine.

Some people race it.
Some people soak it up.
Both are perfect.

---

❓ Will I be the slowest paddler there?

Statistically, someone has to be.

But nobody remembers who came last.

They remember the stories from the after-party.

---

❓ Will there be elephants?

Just round that next corner... but remember this is Thailand, not a zoo.

Wildlife doesn’t work to race schedules.

---

❓ What’s the food like?

Genuinely incredible.

Fresh, full of flavour and suitable for dietary preferences.

Most people’s biggest issue is coming home and realising their local takeaway has been lying to them for years.

---

❓ Am I going to get an upset stomach?

No.

We use trusted hotels, restaurants, and local partners throughout.

The hardest decision is usually whether to order one Pad Thai… or two.

---

❓ Is there great coffee?

Yes.

Thailand understands that paddlers without caffeine are a liability.

---

❓ Can I get a massage?

Yes.

Thailand is extremely good at massages.

After a weekend on the water, it would almost be rude not to.

---

❓ Do I need to bring my own board?

No.

Thanks to SUNOVA, quality paddleboards will be available throughout the weekend.

So you can:

✈️ Fly to Bangkok
🏄 Turn up and paddle
🌴 Enjoy the jungle

No board bags. No airport stress. No excess baggage fees.

---

❓ Can I bring my own carbon board or ISUP board?

Yes, absolutely.

There are separate categories:

🏄 Hardboard category
🏄 ISUP category

Use your own board or hire one of ours. Either is fine.

We just want you there.

---

❓ Will I be able to have coconut water out of an actual coconut?

Yes.

This is Thailand.

🥥 Fresh coconuts
🥥 Chilled straight from the source
🥥 Drunk while wondering why you ever accept anything less back home

At some point, it stops being a drink and becomes a lifestyle.

---

❓ Does the hotel have Wi-Fi?

Yes.

You will be able to upload photos and make everyone back home jealous in real time.

---

❓ Does the hotel have air conditioning?

Yes.

Arguably one of the most important pieces of kit on the entire trip.

---

❓ Does the hotel have a swimming pool?

Yes.

Perfect for recovery, relaxing, or pretending you’re a professional athlete between paddles.

---

❓ Can I get a beer or wine after the race?

Yes.

---

❓ Can I sit by the pool with a drink and wonder why I don’t do this more often?

Also yes.

And you probably will.

---

❓ Do I need to download Duolingo or learn Thai before I come?

No.

Put the phone down.

The event is hosted in English, with full Thai translation for domestic paddlers.

🦺 Safety briefings are delivered clearly for everyone to understand
🤝 Our Thai and English team are on hand throughout the weekend, so you’ll always know what’s going on

So unless you were planning a full linguistic transformation before December… you’re good.

That said…

Learning a few Thai phrases will instantly level up your experience.

Not because you need them.

But because saying “hello” and “thank you” in Thai gets more smiles than paddling faster ever will.

---

❓ Are the views really that good?

Yes.

They really are.

Jungle-covered hills, golden light, wide river bends, and constant “this can’t be real” moments.

📸 These are only a few of the photos from our December 2026 trip — and we barely scratched the surface.

For the full gallery, head over to SUP Fitness: Wellbeing & Adventure (warning: there are a LOT of photos).

Short version?

The views are ridiculous.

Long version?

You’ll probably stop paddling just to take them in.

---

❓ Am I going to come home with a questionable tattoo?

We can neither confirm nor deny.

That’s between you, your friends, and the after-party.

---

❓ Will there be somebody to take my photo as I cross the finish line under the Bridge over the River Kwai?

Yes. There will be photographers at key moments throughout the course, including the finish, so your “I can’t believe I just did that” moment will definitely be captured.

And yes — it is the actual Bridge over the River Kwai. You’ll paddle under one of the most iconic bridges in the world to finish your race.
It’s as good as it sounds.

❓ What’s the biggest risk?

Coming home and immediately looking at flights back to Thailand.

It happens more than you’d think.

🔥 🗞 HOT NEWS
Race to the Jungle x Sunova Surfboards

We're incredibly excited to announce our collaboration between Race To The Jungle 2026 and Sunova SUP for our inaugural Thailand event taking place on 12th–13th December 2026 in Kanchanaburi, Thailand.

From the very beginning, we wanted Race 2 the Jungle to feel different. Not just another race in another location, but a genuine experience that blends adventure, travel, community, atmosphere, and paddling into something unforgettable.

When we started speaking with the team at Sunova, the partnership immediately felt right.

What we love about Sunova is how genuine the brand feels. Everything about them reflects craftsmanship, innovation, sustainability, and a real connection to the water. Their philosophy around creating “the right board for the right rider” aligns so naturally with what we’re building with Race 2 the Jungle.

There’s soul in what they do.

Their boards are handcrafted in Thailand, and that local connection makes this collaboration even more special. Race 2 the Jungle is all about immersing people into the experience of Thailand, the rivers, the jungle, the culture, the people, the food, the atmosphere and working with a Thailand-based brand that genuinely lives and breathes board culture feels incredibly important to us.

One of the most exciting parts of this collaboration is that paddlers will have access to a range of Sunova boards during the event, with different shapes and dimensions available depending on paddling style, confidence, and race goals.

Whether paddlers are looking for speed, stability, glide, technical handling, or simply a comfortable board to experience the adventure, we want people to have access to equipment that helps them enjoy the event properly.

For many paddlers, travelling internationally with boards can feel like the biggest barrier to entering overseas races. We really wanted to help remove that stress.

One of the standout features of Race 2 the Jungle is actually how accessible it is.

You can fly into Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), jump in a transfer, taxi, train, or bus, and within around 1.5–2 hours be in Kanchanaburi surrounded by jungle mountains and rivers.

We’ve worked hard to make the entire experience seamless.

Accommodation packages, race logistics, transfers, safety cover, local support, hospitality, guest packages, and event organisation are all built into the weekend, meaning people can realistically come out and do this as an unforgettable long weekend adventure with minimal hassle.

But equally, Thailand deserves more time.

Kanchanaburi and the River Kwai region are absolutely stunning. Waterfalls, jungle rivers, floating cafés, mountains, incredible food, massages after paddling, beautiful hotels it’s the kind of place where you instantly slow down and settle into the rhythm of it.

And beyond that, Thailand offers so much more.

Whether it’s heading north to Chiang Mai for mountains, culture, and adventure, returning to Bangkok to explore the energy of the capital, or continuing south to the beaches and islands for pure relaxation, Thailand is a country that rewards anyone who chooses to stay longer and explore.

The event itself is going to be something really special.

Saturday’s 12km Technical Race at Lake View is fast, tropical, and framed by jungle covered mountains, while Sunday’s 38km downriver race flows through the River Kwai before finishing beneath the iconic Bridge over the River Kwai honestly one of the most spectacular finish lines we’ve ever created.

Hosted by the R2TC Crew SUP Hire Thailand Co., Ltd. and SUP Fitness: Wellbeing & Adventure

R2TJ blends racing, exploration, hospitality, atmosphere, and adventure into a tropical paddle experience unlike anything else on the calendar.

And it’s already building momentum.

With just 100 places available for the inaugural year, demand is already building fast and early places are being taken.

But more than anything, we want people to leave Thailand feeling like they experienced something bigger than a race.

That’s what Race 2 the Jungle is really about.
