What happens when your whole family says yes to fostering? πŸ’œ

For Rachel and Amie, fostering has been a journey shared by the entire family. From open conversations with their children at the very beginning to celebrating progress together, they've seen first-hand the positive impact fostering can have on everyone involved.

πŸ’¬ "We were open and honest with them and said, 'This is what it entails. How do you feel about that?'"

They've learned that it's often the small milestones that matter most, and that having a strong support network can make all the difference.

πŸ’¬ "Sometimes it's very, very subtle. Just getting her to school every day was progress."

Thinking about fostering? Rachel and Amie's advice is simple:
πŸ’¬ "Ask lots of questions. No question is silly."

Read their story to discover how fostering has shaped their family and the difference it has made in a young person's life.

πŸ’™ Fostering was never meant to be done alone.

Every fostering journey has its challenges, but having local support can make all the difference. From support groups and community events to people who truly understand the realities of fostering, a strong support network helps make the difficult days feel easier and the good days even more rewarding.

Being part of a local fostering community means having people who know you, understand your family, and are invested in helping you thrive.

Because the right support doesn't just help you get through the journey. It helps you grow with confidence every step of the way.

πŸ’™ Many children in care have experienced trauma. Understanding that trauma can make a life-changing difference.

At Fostering People, we're committed to a trauma-informed approach that helps children feel safe, understood, and supported as they begin to heal from adverse childhood experiences.

This means looking beyond behaviour, understanding triggers, building trust through approaches such as PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy), and creating stable, nurturing homes where children can thrive.

It's also why we provide trauma-informed training, dedicated support, specialist guidance, and a strong fostering community to help foster parents support children every step of the way.
