One weekend. Two matches. Two very different results!

Let’s start with the good news.. On Saturday (once the rain was blown away) the summer mixed team achieved a great win over Collingham Tennis Club in the last match of the season. Birinder and Anita (master cake maker 🍰) played particularly well in their last two sets and by winning both helped seal the victory. Captain Diane thanks everyone for playing during the whole summer season and wishes us luck in the winter ❄️

Unfortunately, on Sunday, despite our ladies’ VERY BEST efforts, they were unable to come away from Eastwood Tennis Club with a win. Narrowly losing 5-7 after the hardest of hard fought matches, they now need all the support they can get for this Saturday’s fixture at home against Burton Joyce Tennis Club

Thanks to all of our members who supported our annual club tournament this year! The sun shone and it was an enjoyable day for all the players and supporters alike.

Special thanks to Vineet for organising the men’s event, and to Jane and the brilliant washing-up and drying team for helping out.

Another weekend has gone by and another match was played by our magnificent ladies’ team! 👭

Unfortunately the result didn’t quite go our way this time, and after a hard fought match Caunton got away with a narrow 7-5 win. Our ladies showed tremendous team spirit and grit though. Well done particularly to and Pamela Wake Elwick , whose last set went to a 7-point tie break, despite them losing the first four games! Amazing work! 💪

But nothing keeps these girls down for very long and they’ll be back in action in a couple of weekend’s time against Eastwood Tennis Club 💁‍♀️

All smiles as our ladies were victorious against Nottingham Castle on Saturday! 😁

The stakes were somewhat lowered as unfortunately the opposition couldn’t field 6 players, meaning that the win was automatically ours anyway. But hey, a win is a win, right? 😉

Having said that, our girls still played with passion and professionalism and won all sets. The win was enjoyed in glorious sunshine, under the watch of various spectators, and of course celebrated with captain Anita’s delicious cake afterwards 🍰

The ladies team play again this coming Saturday at home at 10:30am. Get down to the club and show your support 💪

August is well underway and with it comes another jam-packed schedule of tennis! 🗓️

We’ve six fixtures coming up this month - 3 for our ladies and 3 for our men. With the weather showing no signs of changing anytime soon, why not make the most of the summer and come and cheer us on? 🥳

And that’s a wrap! 🎾

To celebrate the last lesson of the adult coaching groups coach organised a 2 hour doubles tournament. It consisted of two groups of 8 players competing in a round robin format. Each team played 4 games per match and 5 rounds were completed. The player in each group with the most points was the winner 🏆

Congratulations to Charan who won his group with 14 games and Kent who won his with 19! Although nobody went home empty handed - everyone left with a prize 🎁

The sessions will now take a break for summer, with the next 10 weeks of coaching starting again on Monday 7th September. Get in touch if it sounds like your bag!

Our lovely ladies went to Burton Joyce on Sunday where despite giving it their all, they came away unsuccessful.

There were lots of long rallies, deuces and games that could have gone either way, but overall the experience of the opposition prevailed and they won 10 sets to 2.

Never mind ladies, heads up for the next one! Thanks to Burton Joyce Tennis Club for the hospitality.

You can tell there’s been a heatwave because our mixed team were on FIRE yesterday for the match against Welbeck 🔥

They secured a brilliant win in very warm conditions where both Rosie and Ben and Cate and Andy won all their sets, the latter pair winning 21 games in a row! Birinder and Diane won one set and had close 4-6s in all the others. All in all a much deserved 9-3 win, that obviously proved as a good omen for the England match! 😉

🎾 Throwback Thursday! 🎾

Throwing it back to our annual ‘President’s Evening’, a night when all members (and their friends and family) can enjoy an evening of friendly competition on court, and plenty of fun off it.

We had loads of members come out and enjoy the tennis, as well as some Pimms and strawberries and cream for afterwards, because what tennis competition would be complete without it? 🍓

Congratulations to winners , , Chris and Neil who took home prizes on the night.

Special thanks to Sonia and Jane Scales for keeping us fed and refreshed on the night and of course to Lenny, Paul and Cynthia for keeping score and keeping us all organised.

Looking forward to the next one! 😁
