Do you cycle off-road or MTB on Warwickshire’s public rights of way? If you do, Warwickshire County Council wants to hear your views.
The council is working on a new Rights of Way Improvement Plan. They want to hear from off-road cyclists and MTB-ers who use public rights of way to make sure the new plan reflects your views.
A Rights of Way Improvement Plan is an important document for the Rights of Way Service. It sets out what needs to be done so that public rights of way meet the needs of users now and in the future. Your views are important to help shape the priorities and actions in the document.
An online workshop will be held on Monday 6 July at 7pm.

This week is Drowning Prevention Week, and we're taking the opportunity to share an important message about water safety.
None of the water at our park is safe to enter. It can contain hidden dangers such as debris and weeds, which can quickly cause even the most experienced swimmers to get into difficulty. There is also the risk of waterborne diseases.
We know how tempting it can be to cool off in the water on a hot day, but please stay safe by keeping a sensible distance from the water and enjoy some time in the many shady areas of our park if the sun gets too much.
If you do see someone in trouble in the water, remember Phone, Float, Throw:
📞 Phone 999
🗣️Tell them to float on their back
🛟 Throw something to help them float
We know there most likely aren’t too many young people following our page – so our ask is for you to pass this message on, whether it’s to your own children, nieces and nephews, neighbours, or children and young people you work with.
It could make a difference when it matters the most. Thank you.

This week is Volunteers’ Week, and we wouldn’t miss the opportunity to celebrate and thank our amazing volunteers who help make our country parks the special places they are. 💚
From planting trees and installing trails to clearing brash, coppicing, pruning, helping with site records and getting stuck into countless other maintenance and conservation tasks, our volunteers play an essential role in looking after our special green spaces.
We currently run the following volunteer groups:
💧 Kingsbury Water Park – every Tuesday from 9am
🦋 Ryton Pools Country Park – every Monday, 9.30am to 3pm, and one Saturday per month, 1pm to 4pm
🌳 Hartshill Hayes Country Park – alternate Saturdays from 10am
🌄 Burton Dassett Hills – every four weeks on a Friday
🛞 Pooley Country Park – once a month on a Wednesday
We also regularly host corporate volunteer groups for any organisations that fancy a fantastic team building day while giving something back to their local park.
If you’d like to get involved, please email [email protected].
To all our volunteers, past, present and future, thank you for giving your time to support us. We really couldn’t do it without you! 🫶

📍 Wednesdays at 10am – Kingsbury Water Park
During these walks, one of our rangers will take you on a guided route, sharing fascinating facts about our parks, their history, and the habitats and wildlife to look out for along the way.
It’s also a lovely chance to enjoy relaxed conversation, stretch your legs, and unwind in nature.

With the weather warming up, we hope you’re enjoying the opportunity to get outdoors at Warwickshire’s country parks and other green spaces across the county. ☀️🌿
To help keep everyone safe in the sunshine, please keep these reminders in mind:
💧 Bring plenty of drinking water for yourself, children, and dogs.
🌳 Make the most of shaded areas during the hottest parts of the day to avoid overheating.
⚠️ Please don’t enter our lakes, pools, or other bodies of water. Cold water shock can happen even in warm weather, and there are hidden hazards beneath the surface.
🔥 Please don’t light campfires or BBQs. Dry grass can catch fire very quickly, and disposable BBQs damage our habitats.
🚮 Warmer weather can unfortunately bring a rise in anti-social behaviour such as littering and dangerous driving/off-roading. Please be considerate, follow our site guidelines, and don't ruin the experience for yourself and all those around you. Anti-social behaviour can be reported to Warwickshire Police via 101, or 999 if there is an immediate risk to safety.
Thank you for staying safe and helping us take care of our parks. 💚
