High blood pressure, or Hypertension, is bad news โ
It can lead to a host of health problems that you don't want anything to do with, trust me.
Getting it checked takes a few minutes and is simple and painless. So do your heart a favour and get it checked out โฅ๏ธ

Pacemakers are small implantable devices that manually beat the chambers of your heart โฅ๏ธ
Usually implanted because your Sinus Node has stopped working properly (often called Sick Sinus Syndrome)
Pacemakers either have 1 , 2 or 3 cables depending on how much support your heart needs, and some can also act as a defibrillator to counteract certain arrhythmias โก
I have a 3 cable (Biventricular) pacemaker defib (CRT-D) because well... My hearts pretty broken ๐
Got any questions on pacemakers? Drop them in the comments below ๐๐ป
Would you know how to help someone who was having a cardiac arrest? ๐ค
CPR is one of those skills that's better to have and not need, than need it and not have it. Trust me, I should know ๐ฌ
It can be the difference between life and death.
I'm not a qualified trainer, but I have had to use CPR and successfully saved a life ๐๐ป
If you want proper training, I'd highly recommend looking in to RevivR course. It takes 15 minutes and you can learn from home.

Fun fact; many HF medications lower your blood pressure to ease the strain on your heart โค๏ธ
And when you take as many as me, that postural hypotension (low BP) hits hard ๐ฌ
"Heart Failure" and "Ejection Fraction" for Dummy's... Explained by a dummy.
In simple terms, heart failure means your heart is not pumping blood effectively to meet the body's needs ๐
Ejection Fraction is the percentage of blood that leaves your heart when it beats ๐งฎ
While not always linked, there's usually an association between the two:
๐ฅ Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) is โค 40%
๐ง Heart failure with mid-range ejection fraction (HFmEF) is 40%-49%
๐ฉ Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is โฅ50%
The good news is that with proper care, both of these can be managed and you can still live a long and full life. That's my plan, anyway ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
Hello there, I'm Andy ๐๐ป
I have PRKAG2 syndrome, a rare genetic condition which causes multiple issues with the heart, a Biventricular CRT-D implant and I've survived a cardiac arrest ๐๐ป
Despite all that, I stay active and life a full live. For a while I've contemplated sharing my story, in an effort to educate and inspire ๐๐ป
Well, after a lot of procrastination, I figured I might as well make a start ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
If you'd like to learn more about heart health, fitness and maybe have some laughs along the way; drop me a follow.
See you again soon โฅ๏ธ

I'm truly honoured to have been awarded CPR Hero at Awards on Tuesday night โฅ๏ธ
A fantastic night, where I met some incredible people and heard some inspirational stories.
Words can't do justice to how grateful I am. ๐๐ป
It was a privilege to be able to share my "heart story" - made a even sweeter by Andrew stepping up to give his experience and story as well.
Having received life-savinh CPR and then giving it, I realised I had a powerful message to share with the world:
Learn CPR.
Revivr training takes around 15 minutes, and anyone can do it.
It's much better to have it and never need it, than need it and not have it.
Thank you to both BHF & for the opportunity.
