We’re at Ulley Sailing Club today. Always a great welcome. A great turnout too with 24 boats entered despite lots of sailors remaining in harbour for exam revision. 😁

Results and updates to follow.

Photos from yesterday’s “Big Day Out” at Filey Sailing Club.

A big thank you to the club, their volunteers, the NEYYSA volunteers and launch parents for their efforts.

Some great racing at the front of the fleet sees a change in the overall series leader.

This year we are really lucky to be enjoying support for our events from Rooster. Prize winners are receiving vouchers and the overall series results will also hand out vouchers again as per previous years. We aren’t handing out the medals this year as feedback from sailors (& parents) is they prefer the vouchers to help towards kit replacement.

The regatta fleet had a great day enjoying sea sailing, some for the first time. Filey Bay didn’t disappoint with some great wind and swells. 🙂

It's a big day at Filey Bay today for the Traveller Series. 27 sailors launched through the surf this morning for a 4 race back-to-back day. As usual it was all hands to the beach to help with launching and a big thank you to the parents who donned dry-suits to get everyone through the surf. Low water is late this afternoon so the hill was busy prior to launching getting everyone down from the Brigg and rigged on the hardstanding as there wasn't much beach space first thing.

8 sailors are experiencing sea sailing for the first time and with last year's series' winner Henry Blades in the coach boat the regatta division are well looked after.

The main fleet are in for a great day too with fantastic conditions and a good breeze. Several of the series top runners are racing so results will be tight and counted carefully.

Results will be updated to the website as they come in.

Thank you as always to Filey Sailing Club for their customary big welcome, nothing too much trouble attitude and great water and shore teams keeping everyone safe and smiling.

This week is National Volunteer Week. Sailing is a people intensive sport, on the water we need race teams, safety teams, jurors, coaches, instructors and on shore we need helpers to launch, tally, organise, cook, sort, rig and drive. Behind the scenes lots of people contribute too, often on a daily basis.

In a few weeks time the region's Y&J will congregate at DRSC for the regional champs, this is a massive volunteer led event and we are very much looking forward to celebrating our sailors and our volunteers.

So a big shout out to all, and some photos of a few, of our volunteers who help us go sailing - NEYYSA couldn't do it without you!

THANK YOU!

Massive congratulations to Harry Wilson from Filey Sailing Club who has just won the RS Tera Sport Nationals at Pwllheli.

After a big week of racing, Harry was 10 points ahead to bring home the silverware.

Another two north sailors were in the top 10 in the sport fleet, with Aggie Priestley (Ullswater) in 3rd and Andrew Reekie (Bassenthwaite) in 6th. Great performances further down the Sport fleet too!

In the Tera Pro fleet, North sailors also delivered great results with James Reekie in 10th and Molly Wilson in 15th with good performances from lots of other North sailors too.

We can't wait to see the battle of the regional Tera gang continue at the North Regional Champs in a few weeks time. It is fantastic to see regular NEYYSA event sailors out on the national circuit delivering great results whilst building friendships and creating memories.

Want to race against Harry? He'll be on home waters this weekend at Filey SC for the next round of the regional traveller series, entry is still open....

We’ve had a brilliant day at Welton as guests of Welton Waters Activities Centre and Welton Sailing Club
The wind forgot to turn up for part of the day but when it did it was fantastic and saw some great racing.

We've really enjoyed heading to a new area of the region and meeting new people and new sailors. We look forward to Welton’s Y&J at future events and future partnerships with Welton Waters. Thank you for having us and making us all so welcome.

Results from today and the series results are in the website. Next week we head to series favourite Filey Sailing Club for round 9.

On Saturday 30 May the series is excited to be heading back to Welton Water after a long absence.

We aren't quite sure when the regional Y&J last went racing there but in the early 1990's regional sailors used to descend to participate in some double handed team racing hosted from the Welton Waters Activities Centre held in Mirrors. The committee can't quite remember the details (because we were all very young at the time, not that we're too old to remember it now) apart from it was always hotly contested and a lot of fun on a great stretch of water.

On Saturday we return to the water as guests of Welton Sailing Club who will be running round 8 of the series. Please get your entries in by 9pm on Thursday so that the club can plan. Information on the website as usual.
