All 3 DCL teams are back in action this weekend with the 1s hosting Kilmington Cricket Club, the 2s travelling to Whitchurch Wayfarers CC and the 3s welcoming Filleigh Cricket Club to Rew Meadow.

🏏 Ladies Softball Match Report 🏏

B&BCC Ladies vs Cornwood at Oak Park
What a fantastic performance from the ladies, securing a brilliant victory against Cornwood!

🏏 B&BCC 129-1 🏏 Cornwood 74-6

After losing the toss, we were put in to bat and got off to an incredible start.

Emma and Kelly opened the batting in style, hitting three 4s in the first over and setting the tone for the innings. They batted positively and finished with an excellent 33 runs.

Next to the crease were Sam and Ellody, who batted brilliantly, finding the spaces and running hard between the wickets. Their partnership added a valuable 26 runs.

Kylie and Danielle then took to the middle, with Danielle playing her very first game. Both batted confidently, finding the gaps in the field and contributing a fantastic 17 runs.

Finally, Kim and Kate rounded off the innings in spectacular fashion. With four 4s in the first over and two huge 6s in the last, they batted aggressively and ran brilliantly between the wickets, finishing on an outstanding 53 runs.

Cornwood came out to bat with some very strong batters who looked to find the gaps and keep the scoreboard moving. However, our ladies fielded exceptionally well, working hard for every ball and applying pressure throughout the innings. The effort in the field paid off as we took an impressive 6 wickets and restricted Cornwood to 74-6.

A fantastic all-round team performance with excellent batting, determined fielding, and great teamwork from start to finish.

A superb fielding performance that put the opposition under constant pressure, saved crucial boundaries, and stopped several certain fours. Your energy, commitment, and impact in the field made a real difference. Well deserved!

🏏 Thank you to Hatherleigh Cricket Club for hosting a fantastic U11 Girls Softball Tournament.

Our girls played brilliantly throughout the day, showing confidence, determination, and outstanding teamwork. Over the last few weeks, we have focused hard on improving our bowling technique, reducing wides, and concentrating on our follow-through. Their batting has also developed significantly, including hitting off the tee and finding those valuable spaces in the field.

We had a great first game against Hatherleigh, bringing home our first win of the tournament! The cooler weather helped keep everyone focused, and it was a brilliant game played in great spirit by both teams.

Our second game was against Tavistock, finishing 77–100. Despite the scoreline, it was a very close and competitive match, with some excellent cricket from both sides. The improvement shown by our girls compared to when we first played Tavistock at the start of the season was incredible to see.

A huge well done to all the girls for their effort, commitment, and positive attitude. We are so proud of how far you have come.
