Ormskirk League Pairs Success

A great achievement by four pairs from our club who have reached the quarter finals of the Ormskirk League pairs competition. Well done to Richard Snape & Ted Baker, Steve James & Jim Gray, Ian & Matthew Gill, and Emma Gill & Emma Denning. Finals night is tonight (Tues 30 June) at Aughton Institute, with the draw taking place on the night for the quarter finals. The action will start at 6.45pm so why not come along and support your teammates?

Alan Mayne

Sadly one of our former members, Alan Mayne, passed away last week after a short illness. Even though he only played a few seasons with us, his phrases live on through our games. Shouts of ‘lazy bowl’ and ‘not gone unnoticed’ continue to be heard across the green. Alan really enjoyed playing as part of OBC and will be missed. His funeral takes place on Wednesday 3rd June 12 noon at Altrincham Crematorium and afterwards at Bowdon Croquet Club. We will have him in our thoughts at this time and our condolences go to Ian and all of Alan’s family and friends.

Ormskirk Bowling Club is starting its popular ‘Bowl for Fun’ sessions on Thursday 4th June at 7pm. If you fancy meeting new people, learning a new skill and getting a bit of gentle exercise come along. These are aimed at complete beginners and are a great introduction to crown green bowls in an informal and fun way, with qualified coaches showing you how to play.

Last year over 30 people attended and many ended up joining the club! There are 6 weekly sessions, each lasting about 1.5 hours and costing £3. You can attend as many or as few as you wish. All attendees qualify to join the club at a reduced annual membership rate for this year of £30 (normally £60).
