🏏 Today at HQ four teams came together to compete in the inaugural Alison Varley Memorial T10. A day of cricket, laughs & fun to remember a special lady who meant so much to so many🩷
First up Ossett v Wakefield Thornes, Ossett batted first and put 91-2 & in reply Thornes put on 83-5.

In match 2 Hunslet Nelson took on Varley Allstars, the Allstars smashed 133-2 in their allotted 10 overs. Hunslet Nelson put a respectable 100-5 on the board but were unable to secure a place in the final.

In the final match, Ossett v Varley Allstars was a nail biter of a finish! The Allstars racked up 116-5 and Ossett needed 2 off the last ball of the match to claim the win, unfortunately we lost by 1 run😢
The Allstars came out on top but support of Matt, Charlie, Daisy & Delilah and Cancer Research was at the forefront of everyone who participated, volunteered and came along to watch🩷🩷

🏏Week 22

Today’s match ball sponsor is Andy Turner & First Choice Recruitment, many thanks for your continued support.

Don’t forget tomorrow is a special tribute to a special lady, Alison Varley, who sadly lost her battle earlier this year. To support the family Ossett CC, Hunslet Nelson CC, Thornes CC & a special team of Varley Allstars will compete in a T10 competition starting at 11 am. There will be a BBQ, auction, raffle, music & fun for all, we hope to see you at HQ!

🏏 WEEK 21 REVIEW

A frustrating weekend for both sides, with the lads left disappointed after two tough results.

🔵 1XI | Baildon

Winning the toss, we opted to bowl first, but it was a tough afternoon with the ball as Baildon raced to 332-3.

Two early wickets left us on the back foot, but Haseen Bashir 34 (Maaz LED Lighting) and Callum Geldart 79 (Aspen Electrical) steadied the ship and gave us hope of an unlikely comeback.

Iqbal Khan 35 and Oliver Eldridge 31 (Thornton Jones Solicitors) continued the fight, but we eventually fell 91 runs short.

🔵 2XI | Great Preston

Great Preston won the toss and chose to bat, posting 203-6 despite two wickets apiece for Luke Watson (Brick Bond Northern Ltd) and Joe Finnigan (T-Ville Ltd).

In reply, Tom Jenkinson 53 (Spurrs Quality Butchers) led the way, with valuable support from youngsters Ben Marsden 24 (C&J Media) and Seb Stannell 18 (Service Metals).

Unfortunately, the visitors had enough in the tank to bowl us out for 156.

💪 ONE MORE TO GO!

Tomorrow brings the final game of the season, and the lads will be determined to put everything on the line and finish the campaign with a win.

Let’s finish strong! 🔥🏏

FROM OSSETT TO LORD’S!

What a day for our very own Matilda, Ossett player and junior coach, who represented the MCCF Bradford Hub in the MCCF final at the home of cricket - LORD’S!

The MCCF (MCC Foundation) gives children who aren’t in the state/private school system or playing county cricket the opportunity to develop, compete and experience opportunities they might otherwise never have. Throughout the season, hubs play against each other, with the best earning the chance to compete in the final at Lord’s.

And this wasn’t Matilda’s first trip to the big stage… she and several of her Bradford Hub teammates were back at Lord’s for the second time! Last time, the occasion got the better of them and they lost their nerve. But this time? Different story.

They arrived believing they belonged there and absolutely proved it.

After watching West Kent Boys completely wipe the floor with York Boys in the morning, there was a little concern that the West Kent team might be just as formidable but the Bradford girls had other ideas!

They held their nerve, played as a strong, united team, and came away as MCCF CHAMPIONS!

And what a day Matilda had.
Keeping brilliantly for Bradford HubSelected to represent English MCCF, speaking about the opportunities MCCF provides as part of a montage featuring children from MCCF programmes around the world.

They were thoroughly spoilt all day!- Played a final at the iconic Lord’s- First-team changing rooms & brand-new kit- Three-course meal- Plenty of goodies- A behind-the-scenes tour
A pretty unforgettable day for our young cricketer and we’re incredibly proud of her.

What an achievement, Matilda!
Memories for life!
