🏏 WEEKEND RESULTS ROUND UP 🏏

Sadly, the last weekend results round up of a wonderful season across all our teams. 👏🏼

❎ The 1s finished on a bizarre note as they were bundled out for just 39 on a tricky wicket against Bomere Heath Cricket Club but being played at Wem CC. Only JP Erasmus with 25 bothered the scorers.
What looked a very easy chase became suddenly interesting as Brandon Diplock continued his amazing late season form taking 5 quick wickets to reduce them to 24/5 but they managed to get over the line for the win.
A strange end to an incredible season!

❎ The 2s also finished a positive season with a loss against Hodnet Cricket Club.
Batting first we posted a competitive 204/4 with a maiden 2nd team 50 from junior Adam Humphreys 👏🏼 who batted with great composure. He was supported by a classy unbeaten 50 from James Bradbury and captain Naomi Payne’s brilliant 37* off just 24 balls.
Sadly, a brilliant unbeaten 141* from the leagues top run scorer meant Hodnet were able to chase the total down easily against a young OCC team in the end.

✅ The 3s were ruthless once again in dispatching Bomere CC but sadly were pipped to the title by Wem CC by just 1 point! 😞
Batting first Thomas Pengelly 26 and Dev Surmay 26* were the main support to another Mike O’Reilly 💯. He finished with over 1000 runs at an average of over 100 for a quite incredible individual season.
OCC’s 235/4 proved too much for Bomere who were bowled out for 98 with wickets for Nethun Dulkith 3/22, Leo Herbert 2/8 and most surprisingly Rich Weaver 2/4 bowling grenades!
Despite being pipped to the title on officials points it was an hugely successful season which should end in promotion to Sunday Division 1.

✅ The 4s finished on a high note as they secured 3rd place with a win against Llanidloes Cricket Club.
Llanidloes were restricted to 175 all out with wickets shared across 6 bowlers. Levi Lane 2/17 and Bobby Hall 3/8 who had picked up a trick or two from his dad Andy ‘Burglar’ Hall about mopping up the tail were the pick.
This was chased with relative ease as Bobby Hall tmade 48 and Adam Humphreys continued his Saturday form with 82 as the target was reached just 3 wickets down for yet another win for this young team.
After a slow start to the season this has been a brilliant season for a team routinely including 7-8 juniors who have all improved massively as the season has gone on. 👏🏼

🏆 FINAL TEAM OF THE WEEK FOR THE 2026 SEASON 🏆

So another season comes to a close, and what an incredible season it has been for the club on all fronts.

This weeks team of the week is headed by Michael O’Reilly who retired on 100 not out, and it is fitting that Michael should lead the final weeks team of the week for this season, as he ends having scored 1,171, with an average of 117 - a truly amazing performance - Well done!!

Adam Humphreys backed up 61 for the 2nd XI on Saturday with 82 for the 4th XI on Sunday, Bobby Hall struck 48 and then ripped through with 3/8, and Brandon Diplock and Nethun Dulkith both bowled brilliantly to finish the season strongly.

As the Team of the Week graphic goes up for the last time this season, a huge thank you and congratulations to everyone who’s featured in it since the summer — too many great individual performances to list them all, but it’s been a brilliant year for the club top to bottom. A special mention to our junior players, several of whom have pushed into senior cricket this season and more than held their own — the future of the club is in good hands.

The sun ☀️ is shining, and we have our final Saturday action of the season as our 2s take on Hodnet Cricket Club.

It will be a long winter without cricket so pop down have a beer 🍺 and enjoy the last Saturday cricket of the summer!

🏆 TEAM OF THE WEEK 🏆

Apologies for the late posting of the Team of the week, for last weekend’s performances.
 
It would have been easy to leave it out as we prepare for this weekend’s final games of the season, but with so many standout performances it was important that we still published it.
 
It’s also great to see so many new names on the team, proof that outstanding individual performances are spread across all of the clubs teams and playing members. Well done to everyone who made the team.
 
It should also go to serve as a reminder that individual heroics sometimes don’t make the team of the week.  But where this is the case, these must not go un-mentioned, such as Dylan Roberts’s last ball 4 to sn**ch a stunning victory for the 4ths in their game against Knockin & Kinnerley. I propose that for this week we nominate Dylan as our first TOTW 12th man – well done Dylan!!

🏏 RESULTS ROUND UP 🏏

✅ The 1s despite a wet 💦 start won the Division 1 title in style against Worfield CC 2s.
Batting first they raced to 262 off just 34 overs with JP Erasmus 52 and Henry Walker 42 supporting a superb 95 from Josh ‘Jason’ Coleridge.
Their opponents did not put up much fight in the chase being bowled out for just 78 with Will Walker 3/26 and another 5 wicket haul for Brandon Diplock before Max Lloyd mopped up the last 2 wickets to win in style.

🤝 The 2s scrapped to a winning draw in the Oswestry derby against Cae Glas Cricket Club.
Steve Humphreys 55 and Bobby Hall 27 got them off to a steady start on a difficult wicket before wickets fell regularly as they tried to push the score forward. A late cameo from James Bradbury meant they reached a competitive 170/9.
A tense chase saw momentum shift between the teams before excellent bowling from Luke Jones 2/34 and the spin twins Lucas Lane 2/27 and Nethun Dulkith 3/14 meant Cae Glas had to hang on 9 wickets down for the draw.

✅ Oswestry Women & Girls Cricket Club sealed the Hardball league title beating Condover to retain the trophy. 🏆
Captain Naomi Payne was unbeaten on 31* as they chased 66 to begin the celebrations! 🍾 🥂

✅ The 3s swept aside Frankwell CC 3s to keep their title hopes alive.
They were ruthless with the ball 🥎 restricting Frankwell to just 99 with young bowlers Hidi Haroonkhail and Lucas Lane impressing with 2 wickets apiece. Luke Jones continued his excellent season with the ball taking 4 wickets for just 6 runs.
He then came out and smashed 70 (including a window 🪟!) to win the game in quick time and pass the 1,000 run mark for the season to go with his 50+ wickets.

✅ Game of the weekend was a last ball thriller as the 4s beat Knockin and Kinnerley Cricket Club with a 4 by Dylan Roberts off the last ball!
They had restricted 🚫 Knockin to 188 with wickets shared amongst the young bowling attack and 2 for Toby Bowen and another 2 for the ‘Burglar’ Andy Hall.
Adam Humphreys once again got runs 33 at the top of the order but it was looking unlikely before skipper Andy Hall 65* and Dylan Roberts 20* got them over the line in the dark on the last ball to seal another brilliant win! 👏🏼

An unbeaten weekend for OCC as we finish a great summer strongly!
