Some very sad news for Larry’s family and the cycling community. RIP Larry

All at British Cycling are saddened to hear the passing of Larry Hickmott.

Larry’s passion and dedication for cycling was unrelenting, and the wider community benefited from his tireless efforts in chronicling the sport.

Our thoughts go to Larry’s family and friends at this difficult time.

We have a new race organiser!!

Firstly, a huge thank you to Sonja Harper for her incredible leadership of the Otley Cycle Races over the past seven years. Taking on this role is someone requiring very little introduction in the cycling town of Otley… welcoming Lizzie Deignan as our new Event Organiser!! Sonja and our team are extremely pleased to be retaining a female director of the races!

Lizzie brings years of experience from an iconic racing career shifting to the other side of the barriers.

“I am slightly daunted by the prospect of jumping in as organiser of a long standing and prestigious race like Otley, but I am confident and grateful to be working with such a dedicated and experienced team. My career started on the UK criterium scene, it’s so important to me to give back to the sport and particularly my local cycling community, I certainly wouldn’t have had the career I’ve had without the dedication of so many race organisers and volunteers. Thank you Sonja!”

A great win in Japan and big congratulations to 🎉 The local lad has visited our podium at Otley Cycle Races a couple of times winning the Youth Boys Race in 2018!
