Every child deserves the opportunity to learn how to stay safe around water

As Drowning Prevention Week approaches, I’m incredibly proud of our team and everyone behind the scenes who plays a part in helping children become safer and more confident around water.

From our teachers and lifeguards to our office team, everyone at Ready Steady Swim plays a part in creating a safe, supportive environment for our swimmers and their families.

Water safety is something we are genuinely passionate about, not just during Drowning Prevention Week, but in every lesson, every week!

Living so close to the River Wharfe, we know how important it is to educate children with such an important message and to help them understand how to stay calm, float and know what to do if they ever find themselves in difficulty.

The local primary schools will be spending the next week designing their water safety posters, and we’ll be sharing these on our platforms during Drowning Prevention Week.

We’re proud to support RLSS Drowning Prevention Week 2026!

Living with the River Wharfe right on our doorstep, water safety is something we are incredibly passionate about.

Every summer, thousands of local families enjoy spending time around rivers, lakes, reservoirs, beaches and swimming pools. That’s why we believe every child should have the knowledge and confidence to stay safer around water.

Over the coming weeks, water safety will be a key focus throughout our lessons and clubs, with children learning and practising important skills such as floating, staying calm in the water and understanding what to do if they ever find themselves in difficulty.

As part of Drowning Prevention Week, we’re also excited to be launching our local Primary School Water Safety Poster Competition.

🏫 Local primary schools will be invited to take part by creating a poster promoting water safety.

🏆 The winning school will receive £500 off their next primary school swimming lesson invoice.

🎁 The winning pupil will receive a prize hamper including a family experience and lots of swimming goodies!

Our aim is simple: to help local children and families stay safer around water this summer ☀️ 🏊‍♀️

At Ready Steady Swim, we teach children confidence and essential water safety skills from an early age 💙
From the very beginning, children learn important skills such as floating, staying calm in the water and building confidence.
