Help us settle a debate… what are the hardest local running climbs? ⛰️
We're keeping it within about 6 miles of the shop.
Short and sharp, or long and grinding. Road, trail or fell. Basically, the climbs you really don't look forward to when you're already tired…
Our current top five:
⛰️ York Gate Climb
890m | 166m / 545ft ascent
https://www.strava.com/segments/2164448
⛰️ Moor Road to Shooting Lodge
1.77km | 173m / 567ft ascent

⛰️ Chevin Steps
384m | 105m / 345ft ascent

⛰️ Ilkley Incline

⛰️ Johnny Lane Last Push Up

Well, this might be the ultimate Yorkshire Runner loyalty card… 😂🌹
One of our customers has only gone and got the Yorkshire Runner rose tattooed on his leg.
We're genuinely quite touched by this one.
Yorkshire Runner has always been about more than selling running shoes. We want to know our customers, understand their running, hear about the good days and the difficult ones, and hopefully play a small part in whatever they're trying to achieve.
This particular customer brings enthusiasm in bucketloads, loves his training and is one of those people we always enjoy catching up with when he walks through the door
We talk a lot about being an independent running shop and doing things a little differently. We're not sure we'll ever get a better endorsement than someone deciding to permanently put our logo on their leg....

We have watched thousands of customers running up and down outside the shop over the years
One thing that always stands out is just how many different running styles and gaits there are.
Some runners glide. Some shuffle. Some heel strike. Some land further forward. Some overpronate. Some don’t.
The point is… there’s no single “perfect” running style — and there’s definitely no one shoe that works for everyone.
A 5K is around 6,000 steps.
A marathon can be 50,000+.
That’s a lot of time spent in shoes that either work with your running style… or against it.
If you’re unsure what shoe is right for you, pop into Yorkshire Runner and we’ll help you find the right fit for your running.

🍂 September running starts here.
Autumn is one of the best times to get out running. Marathon training, the start of the autumn race calendar, cross-country on the horizon, or simply cooler miles after the summer.
If your shoes are getting tired — or you’re not sure you’re running in the right pair — come and see us.
At Yorkshire Runner we don’t just look at your gait and tell you what shoe to buy. We’ll talk about your running, look at how you move, try different options and, most importantly, listen to what actually feels right to you.
