🥋✨ WORLD CUP MEDALIST SENSEI RONNIE JUDGE ✨🥋

We are beyond PROUD to celebrate Sensei Ronnie Judge – red belt, devoted father, dedicated instructor and our latest WORLD CUP MEDALIST! 🏆🏆

At the GKR Karate World Cup 2026, competing in the 45+ years (5th-4th Kyu) Male division, Sensei Ronnie claimed SILVER in Individual Kumite and BRONZE in Individual Kata.
A fantastic performance!

But Sensei Ronnie’s story is about so much more than medals.

Sensei Ronnie’s karate journey began in South Africa at a young age, where he discovered a passion that shaped his life.
When his two sons reached the age he did when he started, he wanted them to experience the same gift and so they enrolled at GKR together in January 2023.

Since then, Sensei Ronnie has:

✅ Only missed 2 tournaments since he started competing as a yellow belt – showing true dedication
✅ Become an instructor in 2024 – a role he genuinely loves, finding teaching incredibly rewarding and motivating
✅ Now a WORLD CUP MEDALIST 🌍
Teaching pushes Sensei Ronnie to learn and improve so he can pass knowledge and passion onto his students.
Looking back, he’s incredibly proud of how far he and his boys have come – both on and off the mats.

Sensei Ronnie, your journey embodies everything karate stands for: growth, family, resilience, and lifting others up. Thank you for inspiring everyone around you!

Here’s to continuing the journey, learning new skills, and helping others grow! 🙌💪

🥋✨ WORLD CHAMPION EDWARD ABRAHAMS✨🥋

We are absolutely THRILLED to celebrate Edward Abrahams.

Blue belt, tournament enthusiast and our latest WORLD CUP DOUBLE GOLD MEDALIST! 🏆🏆

Competing in the 12-13 years (5th-4th Kyu) division, Edward claimed GOLD in both Kata and Kumite at the GKR Karate World Cup 2026.
What an INCREDIBLE performance!

Here’s what makes Edward’s journey so inspiring:

Edward’s karate story started in the most wonderful way, he spotted a flyer at the Eastwood Leisure Centre and decided to give Karate a try at our Sheerwater Dojo in November 2024.
That one decision has changed everything!

In just 1 year and 9 months, Edward has:
✅ Fallen in love with training AND tournaments
✅ Collected an impressive 13 MEDALS
✅ Now a WORLD CUP CHAMPION 🌍

Edward, your dedication, passion and competitive spirit are absolutely inspiring.
You’ve shown us what’s possible when you embrace the karate journey with heart and determination.
Region 38 is amazed with your achievement, it’s certainly no easy feat!

Here’s to many more medals and memories! 🙌💪

In mid-June, several of our Queensland, New South Wales and Victorian senior group volunteered to complete a Homes set-up with our charity partner, RizeUp Australia.

RizeUp provides all the practical items needed for victim-survivors of family and domestic violence to make a fresh start, including furniture and other household items that help transform empty houses into homes.

When each of our GKR teams arrived at their location, they were greeted by a RizeUp driver, an empty house and a truck filled with flatpacks and homewares. The teams set about unloading the truck, assembling the flatpacks, making beds, filling pantries and carefully decorating the space. This included fitting out children’s bedrooms and providing them with the materials needed to start at a new school.

After 4+ hours of work at each location, the transformation from house to home left a lasting memory for all involved. With the knowledge that a family would be entering their newly furnished home in the coming days, each team member took comfort in knowing that they had helped create a new beginning for someone in need.

We are incredibly grateful to RizeUp for the work they do and for the opportunity to be involved in their Homes program. We also appreciate the amazing support shown by all of our students and instructors who participate in the Stop Domestic & Family Violence Purple Belt Campaign. Your involvement means a lot, not only to RizeUp and the families they help, but also to GKR Karate as a whole.

If you would like to volunteer with RizeUp to help setting up Homes, information can be found here https://www.rizeup.com.au/volunteer
