All the children have worked super hard this term. I am super pleased with all their progress and looking forward to seeing them progress even more after Easter and seeing some new children learning too.

Yesterday I was doing more training with this lovely mare, we worked improving her lunging and had a go at lunging with two reins to help her feel more balanced and stop her falling out on her outside shoulder. She's a very fast learner and I'm really looking forward to doing more training with her.

Rememberance Sunday is always just as important for all the animals that served along side all the brave soldiers too.

Easy now, old friend, lay still, lay calm,
The battle's roar fades, the air turns warm.
Your breath is shallow, your eyes grow dim,
But I am here - I'm with you, Jim.

You carried me through fire and fear,
Through fields of mud, through skies unclear.
When bullets flew and the ground did quake,
You held your ground for my own sake.

I know it hurts, I see the pain,
But soon, old boy, you’ll be free again.
No more harness, no more fight,
Only peace in endless night.

Remember the days we raced through the sun,
When war was far and life was fun?
I see you now, in meadows wide,
Galloping free, no need to hide.

I wish I could mend your broken frame,
But war takes all - it’s cruel, it’s plain.
So rest, dear Jim, your work is done,
The battle's lost, but you have won.

Your courage stays, though you depart,
You gave your strength, you gave your heart.
And as you close your gentle eyes,
Know that a hero never dies.

Goodbye, old friend, you've earned your rest,
A soldier’s steed, you gave your best.
I'll carry your spirit, where'er I roam -
For now, go on... gallop home.

Today, we were very lucky with the weather at open day. It was nice to see lots of regular riders as well as potentially some new ones.
Tommy traveled all the way from Blewbury Riding Centre and he was definitely the star of the show.

We have had the most fun and busy pony morning with a equine weigh bridge and . The children learnt about different feeds that old Scooby was happy to sample! Everyone had a go at guessing all the ponies weights. We even compared the weight of four of the children who together all weighed less than Lily

It has been a very busy few weeks with lots of lessons and the last day of riding before the summer holidays at Chandlings. I did manage to have a bit of time to take my horse Warrior out to a fun, clear round.
