The Golden Gleam is loaded and heading back to Oxford. We are very close to hitting our fundraising target for Fulham Reach BC and there is still time to donate:

The Golden Gleam will voyage again...
A boat beneath a sunny sky,
Lingering onward dreamily
In an evening of July ā
Children three that nestle near,
Eager eye and willing ear,
Pleased a simple tale to hear ā
Long has paled that sunny sky:
Echoes fade and memories die:
Autumn frosts have slain July.
Still she haunts me, phantomwise,
Alice moving under skies
Never seen by waking eyes.
Children yet, the tale to hear,
Eager eye and willing ear,
Lovingly shall nestle near.
In a Wonderland they lie,
Dreaming as the days go by,
Dreaming as the summers die:
Ever drifting down the stream ā
Lingering in the golden gleam ā
Life, what is it but a dream?

Eoin figuring out how to use a lock...

For those of you riveted by the debate over which is the deepest lock on the Thames, we have found that the Port of London Authority maintained (and hence omitted from the minds of Environmental Agency lockkeepers) Richmond lock is in fact 1ft 2in deeper than Sandford lock. So Sandford lock is in fact the 2nd deepest lock on the Thames. Phew.

180km, countless locks and many blisters later, we made it at about 10.30pm last night. Thanks so much for all your support. So far almost £1500 has been raised for Fulham Reach Boat Club and the money will help fund the tuition of young rowers who otherwise may not have had the chance to take up our sport. There is still time to donate at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/house4fulham
Many thanks to Auriol Kensington Rowing Club for looking after the boat for the weekend and being an all round good bunch!
