☀️➡️🌧️ What a difference a week makes for Wheatley Purples U11s!

Last week training was all about sunshine, smiles, and cooling off with water balloons in the heat ☀️💦🎈

This week, it was back to reality with a rainy training session — but the weather didn’t stop the effort, energy, or teamwork from the boys 🌧️💪⚽

No matter the forecast, these players keep showing up, working hard, and having fun together.

Great effort from everyone! 💜

What a weekend! ⚽

We hit the ground running this weekend with another double tournament!

On Saturday, it was deceptively hot as we headed over to our local friends at Oxford Blackbirds FC. We knew the standard would be high, and we weren’t wrong!

Going in with an open mind, the boys really pulled it out of the bag, making it all the way to the Cup Final. Unfortunately, they came away empty-handed, but it was a fantastic effort and a performance to be proud of.

On Sunday, we headed over to Easington Sports Football Club for an extremely large but very well-run tournament. With back-to-back games and some excellent football on display, the boys once again finished top of their group. However, they narrowly missed out in the Cup Semi-Finals.

Tournaments really are what summer football is all about!

Next weekend is another busy one, with yet another double tournament and our club presentation.

We can’t wait! 💜⚽

🏆💜 BACK-TO-BACK CHAMPIONS! 💜🏆

What a day for Wheatley U11 Purples!

After an incredible tournament, the boys held their nerve to win the Yarnton Blues FC tournament on penalties, making it TWO years in a row! 🎉⚽

Massive credit to every player for their teamwork, determination, and never-give-up attitude throughout the day getting us all the way to the final!

Winning on penalties takes courage, and the team showed it in abundance.

A huge thank you to all the coaches, parents, and supporters who cheered us on all day.

Champions again. Same trophy. Same nerves. Same result. 💜👏

Also a huge Happy Birthday to our coach Ashley! ⚽️🏌🏼‍♂️

🔥☀️ Hot one last night for the Wheatley Purples U11s!

Great energy at training despite the heat! Hard work, big smiles, and plenty of quality football on show.

To cool things down, training finished with a water bomb fight… safe to say nobody stayed dry! 💦⚽️

Massive effort from all the players tonight 👏💜

Back this weekend with another tournament at Cholsey ☀️

It was HOT, but such a well-run, fun tournament all round.

Every week the team gets one step closer to the trophy they’ve all got their eyes on. We made it to the semi-finals, but again, it just wasn’t our day.

We go again next weekend - and this time, it’s a double tournament weekend 💪🔥

What a day for the Wheatley U13s at the Cholsey Tournament! 🏆⚽

After battling through a tough group stage — winning 2, drawing 1 and losing 2 — the boys dug deep and showed incredible character to reach the knockout rounds.

The quarter-final was pure drama. A tense 0-0 battle went to penalties, where Wheatley held their nerve to win 2-1 on pens. 💪

Into the semi-final, another huge performance saw a hard-fought 1-0 victory book a place in the final.

And what a final it was…

End to end from the first whistle, chances flying at both ends, the woodwork rattled more than once. Then disaster struck early as Wheatley conceded a free kick in the 4th minute to go 1-0 down.

The opposition tried to slow the game down, but Wheatley refused to give in. With literally the last kick of the match, up stepped a moment of magic! a beautifully controlled volley from near the halfway line that flew in to make it 1-1 and send the game into golden goal!

With the momentum now fully on their side, Wheatley took control. A forced throw in led to a flick on that fell perfectly for the onrushing winger, who fired home the winner to seal an unforgettable comeback and write Wheatley into the Cholsey Tournament books as champions! 🟣⚽️🏆

Proud of every single player, determination, belief and teamwork from start to finish. 👏

☀️⚽ What a day for Wheatley U11’s purples at the tournament in Cholsey!

In scorching conditions, the boys showed incredible determination, teamwork and resilience throughout the day. 💪

A dramatic semi-final victory on penalties had everyone on the edge of their seats and was fully deserved after a huge effort from the whole team!

The final ended in a narrow 1-0 defeat, but the team can be massively proud of their performances, attitude and fighting spirit from start to finish.

A brilliant effort from every player on a very hot day — heads held high and plenty to build on in a quick turn around for next weekend! ⚽️💜

Wheatley U8s 🟣

The U8s hit the ground running this weekend with a double tournament and what a weekend it was! ⚽️

Firstly, we kicked things off at our home tournament, and it was a fantastic day all round. Entering two teams meant we were back-to-back with games all morning!

Home tournaments are so important for many reasons, but being surrounded by fellow Wheatley teams, coaches and managers definitely makes it extra special. The support throughout the day was brilliant.

A big well done to Oxford City, who won our Fair Play Award this year! 🏆

Secondly, we headed over to the Abingdon Youth FC Tournament. It was big, fast-paced and really enjoyable tournament.

The team went unbeaten in the group stages, keeping clean sheets throughout, but unfortunately it just wasn’t our day in the quarter-finals. Tournament football takes some getting used to - the games are quick, every minute matters, and the team showed fantastic togetherness throughout the 8-minute matches.

Really proud of how they’re adapting their play during this tournament season.

Onto another tournament next weekend… 💪⚽️

⚽️ Wheatley Whites Under 11s ⚽️

This one meant a lot! 🥇

Congratulations to our boys for winning their tournament at the weekend.

After some narrow defeats in finals in recent years, to get over the line in a penalty shootout was particularly special. All achieved on home soil at our Wheatley event too! 👌
