Oxford Owls Youth Baseball is running free taster sessions for children aged 6–14 on:

These sessions are perfect for new players or those with some experience — combining skills, game play, and the chance to try real baseball in a fun, supportive team environment.

Winter youth baseball training complete. What a journey. ⚾️

Our final indoor Owls session this weekend brought a brilliant run of winter training to a close — and what a few months it’s been.

From first throws in November to confident, competitive scrimmages today — including a special visit from an MLB & national team player — the progress across the group has been fantastic to see.

Mr Hoo was on hand to inspect proceedings — and left encouraged by what he saw:
“What a talon-ted bunch of kids we have!”🦉👀

We also celebrated two Owls birthdays — a lovely way to wrap up the indoor training and a reminder of what this club is all about: development, teamwork, and cake. 🎂🧁

We’ll take a short break now before heading back outdoors from May 2nd to kick off the 2026 season. 🌱⚾️

We’re looking forward to welcoming new players — if your child is aged 6–14 and would like to give baseball a try, you’ll be very welcome.

🦉 Final WBC update from Hoo-ston

Mr Hoo was back at the ballpark today for Team GB’s final group game at the World Baseball Classic — and what a finish it turned out to be. ⚾

The Great Britain national baseball team beat Brazil 8–1 to secure their place at the next World Baseball Classic. 🇬🇧💥

It was a performance worthy of the moment — a game-tying home run, a go-ahead hit, late insurance runs, and a win that meant something big for British baseball.

After a long weekend against elite opposition, Team GB made sure this Houston trip ended on a high.

Now it’s time to fly back across the Atlantic to his most beloved team of all: the Oxford Owls. 🦉⚾

And don’t worry — Mr Hoo is confident the ballpark chilli cheese dog has provided sufficient fuel for the journey home. 🦉🌭🧀🔥

Mr Hoo would also like to say thank you to everyone who followed his Houston adventure this week.😁🙏

🦉 Mr Hoo reporting live from Houston!

Before heading back to the ballpark today, Mr Hoo managed to squeeze in a visit to the Johnson Space Center — where he learned about the ambition of NASA’s Artemis Moon-to-Mars programme and saw the famous Apollo 11 mission patch. 🚀🌕

Big dreams. Big challenges.

Which, in its own way, feels a lot like the World Baseball Classic.

Team GB has spent these past days going toe-to-toe with some of the biggest baseball nations on the planet — and showing exactly what British baseball is about: fight, skill, and some unforgettable moments.

Mr Hoo also noticed something else…

Apparently birds have played an important role in great human achievements. 🦉

So today’s mission is clear.

The Great Britain national baseball team take on Brazil in the final group game here in Houston — with the winner guaranteed a place at the next World Baseball Classic. 🇬🇧⚾🇧🇷

And the Owl will be back in the stadium to cheer the guys on one more time. 📣🦉

🦉 Mr Hoo witnessed something special last night.

Team GB came out swinging — literally — with a first-pitch home run against the mighty Team USA. 💥⚾

Then came one of the defensive plays of the tournament:
a leaping catch in right field to rob a US home run.

Mr Hoo confirms the ball was definitely leaving the yard… until it wasn’t.

He would also like to make it absolutely clear that he was not interfering with play —
just conducting (very) close aerial observation. 🦉🔍

🦉 Mr Hoo in SE Texas: A Morning at the Beach 🌊

After yesterday’s game, Mr Hoo flapped down to Galveston Beach this morning to think things over.

The Great Britain national baseball team went toe-to-toe with a very strong Mexico side at the World Baseball Classic — and the score was tied heading into the late innings.
Well done, Team GB! 🇬🇧👏

Mr Hoo was especially proud to see our recent youth academy winter training guest, Harry Ford, smash a huge home run. 💥⚾

Sometimes baseball is like that.
You compete hard against the best… and occasionally the momentum shifts late.

But Mr Hoo knows something important:

Great Britain belongs on this stage. 🇬🇧⚾

Tonight the challenge grows even bigger.

Team GB takes on the United States national baseball team — arguably the most star-studded roster on the planet. ⭐

Mr Hoo will be back in the stadium tonight, cheering as loudly as an owl possibly can. 📣🦉

🚨 Breaking News: Mr Hoo has flown 4,800 miles from Oxford to Houston. 🦉🌍

Anyway, the Owls are very proud… and Mr Hoo is already looking into future international Little League tournaments in Hoo-ston for the team. 🌎⚾🦉

He’s a very proactive mascot.
