Oxford Kings, proud members of the British Baseball Federation. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡งโšพ๏ธ

Oxford Kings Baseball Club was founded in 1999 by three University of Oxford postgraduate students from Keble College. The club originally represented the University of Oxford, but in 2001, the Kings became the baseball club for the City of Oxford. Since then, players from all over the world have joined the team and helped build the game within Britain.

Winter youth baseball training complete. What a journey. โšพ๏ธ

Our final indoor Owls session this weekend brought a brilliant run of winter training to a close โ€” and what a few months itโ€™s been.

From first throws in November to confident, competitive scrimmages today โ€” including a special visit from an MLB & national team player โ€” the progress across the group has been fantastic to see.

Mr Hoo was on hand to inspect proceedings โ€” and left encouraged by what he saw:
โ€œWhat a talon-ted bunch of kids we have!โ€๐Ÿฆ‰๐Ÿ‘€

We also celebrated two Owls birthdays โ€” a lovely way to wrap up the indoor training and a reminder of what this club is all about: development, teamwork, and cake. ๐ŸŽ‚๐Ÿง

Weโ€™ll take a short break now before heading back outdoors from May 2nd to kick off the 2026 season. ๐ŸŒฑโšพ๏ธ

Weโ€™re looking forward to welcoming new players โ€” if your child is aged 6โ€“14 and would like to give baseball a try, youโ€™ll be very welcome.

Come and join the fun! ๐Ÿ˜ƒโšพ๏ธ๐Ÿฆ‰๐Ÿ‘‘

๐Ÿฆ‰ Final WBC update from Hoo-ston

Mr Hoo was back at the ballpark today for Team GBโ€™s final group game at the World Baseball Classic โ€” and what a finish it turned out to be. โšพ

The Great Britain national baseball team beat Brazil 8โ€“1 to secure their place at the next World Baseball Classic. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ’ฅ

It was a performance worthy of the moment โ€” a game-tying home run, a go-ahead hit, late insurance runs, and a win that meant something big for British baseball.

After a long weekend against elite opposition, Team GB made sure this Houston trip ended on a high.

Now itโ€™s time to fly back across the Atlantic to his most beloved team of all: the Oxford Owls. ๐Ÿฆ‰โšพ

And donโ€™t worry โ€” Mr Hoo is confident the ballpark chilli cheese dog has provided sufficient fuel for the journey home. ๐Ÿฆ‰๐ŸŒญ๐Ÿง€๐Ÿ”ฅ

Mr Hoo would also like to say thank you to everyone who followed his Houston adventure this week.๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ™

Well done, Team GB.
Thank you for giving all us British baseball fans a tournament to remember.

๐Ÿฆ‰ Mr Hoo reporting live from Houston!

Before heading back to the ballpark today, Mr Hoo managed to squeeze in a visit to the Johnson Space Center โ€” where he learned about the ambition of NASAโ€™s Artemis Moon-to-Mars programme and saw the famous Apollo 11 mission patch. ๐Ÿš€๐ŸŒ•

Big dreams. Big challenges.

Which, in its own way, feels a lot like the World Baseball Classic.

Team GB has spent these past days going toe-to-toe with some of the biggest baseball nations on the planet โ€” and showing exactly what British baseball is about: fight, skill, and some unforgettable moments.

Mr Hoo also noticed something elseโ€ฆ

Apparently birds have played an important role in great human achievements. ๐Ÿฆ‰

So todayโ€™s mission is clear.

The Great Britain national baseball team take on Brazil in the final group game here in Houston โ€” with the winner guaranteed a place at the next World Baseball Classic. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡งโšพ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท

And the Owl will be back in the stadium to cheer the guys on one more time. ๐Ÿ“ฃ๐Ÿฆ‰

Letโ€™s finish strong.

Go Team GB! ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡งโšพ

๐Ÿฆ‰ Mr Hoo witnessed something special last night.

Team GB came out swinging โ€” literally โ€” with a first-pitch home run against the mighty Team USA. ๐Ÿ’ฅโšพ

Then came one of the defensive plays of the tournament:
a leaping catch in right field to rob a US home run.

Mr Hoo confirms the ball was definitely leaving the yardโ€ฆ until it wasnโ€™t.

He would also like to make it absolutely clear that he was not interfering with play โ€”
just conducting (very) close aerial observation. ๐Ÿฆ‰๐Ÿ”

Well done, Team GB!
We love what you are doing at the WBC and wish you the very best of luck in todayโ€™s game vs. Italy.
Go get that win. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡งโšพ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

๐Ÿฆ‰ Mr Hoo in SE Texas: A Morning at the Beach ๐ŸŒŠ

After yesterdayโ€™s game, Mr Hoo flapped down to Galveston Beach this morning to think things over.

The Great Britain national baseball team went toe-to-toe with a very strong Mexico side at the World Baseball Classic โ€” and the score was tied heading into the late innings.
Well done, Team GB! ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‘

Mr Hoo was especially proud to see our recent youth academy winter training guest, Harry Ford, smash a huge home run. ๐Ÿ’ฅโšพ

Sometimes baseball is like that.
You compete hard against the bestโ€ฆ and occasionally the momentum shifts late.

But Mr Hoo knows something important:

Great Britain belongs on this stage. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡งโšพ

Tonight the challenge grows even bigger.

Team GB takes on the United States national baseball team โ€” arguably the most star-studded roster on the planet. โญ

Mr Hoo will be back in the stadium tonight, cheering as loudly as an owl possibly can. ๐Ÿ“ฃ๐Ÿฆ‰

Go Team GB! ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

๐Ÿšจ Breaking News: Mr Hoo has flown 4,800 miles from Oxford to Houston. ๐Ÿฆ‰๐ŸŒ

Heโ€™s at the World Baseball Classic cheering on the Great Britain national baseball team โ€” and our winter training guest Harry Ford.

Go GB! ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡งโšพ

He says heโ€™ll be sending โ€˜holiday updatesโ€™ over the weekend. ๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿ“ฑ๐Ÿฆ‰
(Who knew he had his own cell phone?!)

Anyway, the Owls are very proudโ€ฆ and Mr Hoo is already looking into future international Little League tournaments in Hoo-ston for the team. ๐ŸŒŽโšพ๐Ÿฆ‰

Heโ€™s a very proactive mascot.

What else should Mr Hoo do while heโ€™s in SE Texas? ๐Ÿค”
