After me promising I would be taking my usual classes the Sunday 8th March 2026 I had forgotten I had booked the day off to visit my daughter (time moves so fast). Anyone seeing this post please let any of the regular spinners know I will not be there on Sunday but will be there on Saturday at 10.30. Turns out there is an open day Saturday and Sunday. I pulled up this info on "my friend" A.I !

Leys Pools & Leisure Centre (located in Blackbird Leys) is hosting a Big Open Weekend next weekend, March 7–8, 2026.

If you would like to use the cool power lights on the new spin bikes to motivate you and spice up your spin sessions here's a quick guide to setting it up to get the best results without downloading the icg app. Any questions message me.

Just did my 20 minute FTP test on the new ic5 spin bikes at Leys Leisure. FTP stands for functional threshold power
It's the estimate of the average watts you can maintain working your hardest for 2 hour. To do this test you have to stay in the 70 - 100 rpm range and work with a gear that you can maintain and hold the highest power. To do this test download the icg app which will allow you to pair to your bike.
I got an FTP of 263 watts with my first attempt.
If I then divide this by my weight in kg and it gives me 3.2 watts per kilo.
If you have any questions on FTP just ask and I will answer them if I'm able.

If you are getting into your cycling here's an interesting video on FTP (functional threshold power). The new spin bikes in the gym and studio at leys and Barton allow you to do this test. Once you've done this test you can use the data to potentially take your fitness training up a notch.
